is it on at 8pm or am?

Heck yeah I'm watching. Sounds fascinating. Pm. Oh and Penn and Teller are having a show debunking college on Monday at 10pm. I'm so watching that that.

It sounds interesting! I'm a big fan of the apprentice and I'm getting a sense that it'll be like it. I hope it airs in new zealand!

:D! NoFx! [huggles] Hey hey hey! x] Hehehe I'm a big fan of apprentice too! xO I want to be on that show! Ha ha "You're Fired, SNEAKiiE!" That would be so cool! Hey isn't he making his own so called "university?"

My friend is an alternate.

Trump University is going to be an online only institution where you just go online and take courses.

In no way will it be an actual "University"

it's nice to see this is getting publicity. My best friend's mom produced this show. She even let us watch the kids' tapes and make recommendations on who should be on the cast.

dima, i'm sure it went horribly...i mean, you only got a full ride ;)

i just noticed that one of the judges for The Scholar is also the admissions officer at Columbia who represents my area. and peter johnson is definitely adcom at Columbia as well. that's so cool

iwannabe_Brown, that's pretty cool and lucky. :[ I wish I could make some recommendations but oh well.

If I was asked to audition for the school I would do it. It would be such an experience!

:( I bet it's going to air here like in 4 months or something.
Laguna Beach JUST started airing :\ hahahahha it's so slow here

:/ I think I missed the show. Darn it. >[

No, the premier is Monday.

"For the chance at a full ride to the college of their choice, ten qualified high school seniors from economically disadvantaged backgrounds -- who might not otherwise have an opportunity to attend one of America's top universities -- will compete for a full scholarship, a prize that could be worth as much as $240,000. They will have to demonstrate excellence in the areas of academics, leadership, creativity and community service, while facing sudden-death oral exams defending themselves to an Ivy League scholarship committee."

-This show sounds like nonsense to me; most, if not all of the top colleges in the U.S., guarantee to meet students demonstrated need 100%, so to say that the students might not otherwise have an opportunity to attend one of America's top universities is ridiculous. This show seems like an attempt by ABC to capitalize on Americas ranking-obsessed society.

that's def true, if and only if they apply to ivies.

Any school other than an Ivy has the right to not grant full need.

None the less, trust me, these kids are talented.

Lets talk economics....something just stinks about this to me.

ABC pays "potentially as much as $240,000 to this "deserving senior."

ABC makes many millions off the show

Something's not adding up here...sounds preety cheep to me. Lets take advantage of some seniors to make a buck.

explain to me how they "take advantage of these kids"

Filming was only 3 weeks, and it was during spring break for most of them. Pre-fliming only required about 2 or 3 interviews. If the kid wins, everything about college is free, and even if they don't win, they will win enough for one year, and also possibly win some useful prizes (laptops, PDAs, and the like)

Just because ABC will make more money than it spends on them doesnt mean they're "taking advantage of them." In EVERY organization, the workers don't make as much as the corporation. Unless of course you think everyone is being taken advantage of?

Hey, I love for them to take advantage of me if I were still a kid. If I were a kid I would say bring it on(lol).

Since all of these people are "disadvantaged," I think ABC should have just given them all the money they need for college. I mean they make millions anyway, why not give some to some hard-working high schoolers?
