Is everyone on this site super smart or something?

umm... my sat and act scores say im smart but the gpa tells a more average story

lol... im basically just here b/c im bored and i want to promote ohio univ.-athens

:/ I wish I could turn back time and start preparing for college in elementary school. Or at the very least, become a sophomore again. I mean, I'm young enough. Goddamnit.

^ agree agree
tho i'm talking about applying for private high schools. most ppl start when they're lyk in 7th grade n i started....lyk last month....

Well think about it.

I am smart at my school, but not compared to CC standards. So...I usually don't post scores or grades. Only the super proud would post their stuff, for the most part. At least that's what I keep on telling myself :.

But is everyone on this site really intelligent? I think hard-working might be a more apt description, but nothing is wrong with working hard.

I'm sooooooooo lazy, but I consider myself really intelligent... :P

no - i'm on here :)

I consider myself hardworking and pretty smart but honestly Im not very involved...I got into a bad circle of friends before and I never really got involved in school/extracurriculars, and now THATS hurting my chances to the top school. I do think Im pretty intelligent though...but I wish i could turn back time, get some leadership positions or something. My only talent is school/tests - I have no other talents. i suck at everything :(

i think im the dumbest, got 1680 on my sats, took it again and got 1670 x_x

standardized tests are stupid, not you. In fact, some you don't want to do well on, such as the ASVAB. I got a 97 on it, and the military still won't leave my friend's house alone (I used his address hah). Maybe you've been breathing in a bit too much of your car's fumes ; ) Don't worry about it really. Last I checked, a man is not judged on SATs alone.

I soley disagree with standardized tests used as a representation of a person's abilities. They certainly do not attribute non-academic qualities and tangibles...

and I agree with the poster who said some people are on here are very obsessed.. get a grip, live life to the fullest and stop worrying about it.

"Don't worry, be happy"

In response to the statement that nobody here seems to get a grade below B (was it?), that's false. :D I got a C+ in IB Chem HL and I can't change it cause I took the exam in May. chortle

Nah, it's just the majority of stat-posting people are really smart, and over time the "What Are My Chances" board become quite a blow to the pride. And with the abundance of such stellar stats, it seems THAT'S who you're being compared to.

But you might want to stay away from the Ivie's and top tier LACS/universities own forum boards if you want to retain your confidence. Those boards/forums full of ED/RD applicant stats are...mind-blowing. Stay away...far far away!

What's wrong with the Ivie's? :p Yes - I consider myself hardworking with average earned intelligence and a love of learning.

I do have A's in most things, but not in math :p Math 800's are mindboggling to me...On the other hand, reading is a cinch. Depends on who you are I guess...

Anyways - I never even considered Ivies before a few months ago, but I am applying so yes...Stupid or whatever I don't know. I wish that there was another, cheaper, college on this continet which teaches the same way Princeton does, but the only other one I've found is a tiny, unaccredited one in Cedar City...

Not sure what that might be, other then proof that reg. people apply to the Ivies...Doesn't mean that I'll get in of course, but I can apply...

Hmmmmm.....there are a lot of smart, motivated, hard-working people on this site. I like to consider myself one of them ::crosses fingers:: :p, but I'm also a "real person".

No one is perfect, and even those people with amazing stats and world-class ECs are human, and work hard to get their grades and stats (well, except iwannagoivy :D).

Another thing to consider is that this is a college discussion website. The "high school life" section is filled with teenagers who are very driven towards getting into their desired college and will work hard to get it; less academic teens probably wouldn't be here.
In short, the atmosphere of this website is the academic, college-driven teen, so naturally according to their grades and scores they are "smart"; though i would probably subsitute or combine that with "hardworking.";)

my grades are good but according to my sats i could probably be somewhere near a really big dumbass...especially since i take the subjects on saturday!

somehow i have this almost an ideology stuck in my head that says prepping for tests, doing projects in advance are for the stupid because if u rn't u can pull it off. I know it doesn't make sense but this thought really lingers in my head. The only solution is failure and perhaps being galvanized by that experience. Idk i need to fix this. Anyone else like me? I'm there's a bunch or am I just the lazy one?

I know a lot of people who think exactly that...that people who actually study are dumb. Well, unless you are some insane genius, most of us actually have to study and work hard to get good grades. I know right now I'm working my @ss off just to pull a low A in my AP Lang and Comp class. If you aren't working and just hoping you will do well, you may succeed on a few tests and think yourself "smart" because you didn't have to study, but not working at something will be dumb in the long run, especially if the material comes up again on a final and you didn't really learn it. I hope this is of some motivation/help....:)

k not exactly motivation but kind of idk. Again i have nothing against hard-workers but in the back of my head i have "nerd" notion that i must avoid.
Anyways I still do listen in class and engage in active discussion in class so technically i could be studying. So i do understand the material well. ok i'm not saying i'm a genius but it just like this for me. I was hoping that there were a bunch of people here that have this problem that could possibly provide a solution that worked out.

im an procrastinating overachiever.

"you realize impending assignments are due in less than 48 hours. you cringe at the thought of collecting a single leaf, typing a single word, or pasting a single photo. then...you stop caring. and in another 30 hours, you're golden. on fire. a cognitive messiah. term papers, coffee, and a will to win become the doctrine of your newfound faith. but you still get an A. cheers, you are a procrastinating overachiever."
