nooo, its only basis for selectivity is whether the area you live in has an alumnus living in it. Relax, if they can find someone to interview you, then they'll let you know.

hmmm...right now im living in NJ ..i guess there is alum nearby??

should i call the office to say that i can also go to NYC for the interview??

the lady said i should wait until 2/15..however, we have spring break starts 3/2 and i will be around chicago then...i really do hope to get the response asap.. sigh...

submitted on 1/1. But one of the Harvard alumni interviewers that posts here has said that it is just luck of the draw. Also, sometimes interviewers receive the list of names from the alumni association but haven't contacted the applicants yet, or perhaps in the area you are from, there were too many applicants, and they are doing their best to assign as many as they can to interviewers.

ic. i guess not so many ppl from central jersey applying harvard, cuz as far as i know, ppl here are stick with princeton, upen, columbia, NYU, etc.

i guess i will wait a little longer and see wut happens. thank you!

None of NJ's senators went to Harvard. Must be a state senator, which means that they won't be that intimidating at all. State senators aren't that "noble".
