Or does every school have 2 years of US History (one year reg history, second year AP)?

It's annoying, since I waste 2 years of history, thus destroying my plan of taking AP Euro.

My high school had only one “year” of US History, but they DID have the two classes, normal and AP. It was up to the student to decide which one they wanted to take. (One or the other).

No.
Mine is

9th Grade
AP Human Geography or World Geography/Health (Regular)

10th Grade
AP World History or Modern World History (Regular)

11th Grade
AP US History or U.S. History (Regular)

12th Grade
AP Government or Government (Regular) and AP Economics or Economics (Regular)

AP Euro can be done any time from 10th to 12th grade but have to do double periods (so two periods of history; the ones above are mandatory)

at the other school I previously attended, it goes:

9th Grade
World History MUN or World History Honors

10th Grade
AP Human Geography or AP European History or Political and World Geography Honors

11th Grade
AP US History or US History Honors

12th Grade
Civics & Economics Honors

We only have 1 year of U.S. History, and it is required by state law. Our school doesn’t let us take U.S. till Junior year though. I would much rather take it freshman year and move World History to Junior year, drop World History, and take AP Psych instead (only allowed for juniors and seniors). I could get the minimum 3 history credits, but I would take a history class (psych) that I actually like. I have no room to take AP Psych next year as a senior.

you lucky bastards.

We have World History (not even AP, highest level offered is Honors!) –> US History 1A –> AP USH –> AP Euro/AP Comp Gov & Pol/AP USGP/AP World History.

HAHAHA US HISTORY 1A? GG Grisam
seems like your school is highly patriotic ■■■■■

*edit: do community college classes?

9 - world history H
10 - Ap Euro
11 - AP psych, AP US, AP Gov
12 - Ap psych, AP micro, AP macro, AP Gov

Yes!!! I “had” a 2 year history course. I took the 2 yr AP USH course but now it’s back to 1 year.

the 2 yr course is such a drag and I died during the 2nd year.

Man, we have History of the Americas, too broad to be a US History course.
We do have Both AP Governments though.
I took Comp Gov this year, US Gov next year.

We could’ve taken World History my freshman year.

^^Was your course American history up to and including the Civil War the first year and post Civil War the second year? That’s how it is at my school…

^ That’s how it is at my school.

No, all history courses are stand-alone at my school. However, honors sciences must be taken before APs (Honors Bio freshman year, AP Bio and Honors Chem sophomore year, AP Chem and Honors Physics Junior year, and AP Physics and AP Enviro senior year.

9 - US History (no honors)
10 - World History (w/ honors)
11 - US Government or APUSH
12 - Philosophy or APEH

My school’s APUSH class is a one-year long class (no previous USH class required).

And stop complaining people, my school barely has social science APs. Up until last year, the only social science AP we had was APUSH. Last year AP World History was added. And next year will the first year we will have AP Microeconomics. Before AP World, my school didn’t even offer H World History.

Freshman year: No Social Science class offered
Sophomore: AP World or regular
Junior: APUSH or regular
Senior: H Government or regular AND AP Microeconomics or honors or regular

Ooh, two years of USH? Well, at least you don’t have to read/take notes/make ID cards for a chunk out of a humongous textbook during the summer so that you finish the AP curriculum before May. Here’s the advanced social studies / history track at my school:
9 - Honors Humanities Social Studies (complement of Humanities English)
10 - AP European History
11 - AP United States History
12 - APGAP (Comp/US Government & Politics combined in a one year class)

at mine:

9th- no APs offered for eng & social studies-- Honors English & Honors Gov’t/Civics.

10th- APUSH & Honors Am.Lit (i hated this class).

11th- AP Euro & AP Eng. Lang.

12th- More options You can optionally take AP Lit insttead of having to take both like previously. And they also offer: AP Psych, AP Econ , AP Gov’t…

7th: World History (Prehistory onward)
8th: Honors or regular US History
9th: Honors or regular Modern World History (Reformation onward)
10th: US Hist, AP or otherwise. Like 5 kids also do AP Human Geo or AP Art Hist, but only if they aren’t in band/orch/choir/art. I think people can also do World Hist.
11th: Whatever you want. Most common AP is Econ (Macro and Micro are one class).
12th: Whatever you want. Most common AP is Psych, probs taken by the majority of the class, sometimes in addition to others.

We have all of the social studies APs: Art History, Comparative Gov, US Gov, APUSH, Macro, Micro, Psych, Euro, World, Human Geo, and anything else I may have forgotten.

9th: Advanced World Civilizations
10th: AP US History
11th/12th: AP US Gov, AP Micro, AP Psych, AP Macro, AP Euro
You can take the 11/12 ones any time junior or senior year as long as you get the state required econ and gov credit. However, because of budget cuts there will no longer be AP Macro or AP Euro :(

9th - World History (No Honors until next year, which ****es me off)
10th - Civics/AP World
11th - Reg/Honors/AP US History,
12th - AP Micro/Macro (Online), AP Euro, AP Gov, AP Comp Gov, Honors Comp Religions, Great American Conflicts Honors Seminar, Honors Psych/Socio

i had government/inquiry skills 9th grade, pre-ib world history 10th, this year i just completed ib american history, and next year is called “history of the americas” but it’s really just 20th century usa.
