So I have been accepted to both uc riverside and cal state Fullerton. But I got a D in ap calculus. Fullerton said that my D is fine. While riverside said they will let me know after they receive my final transcript. I want to commit to riverside, but I’m scared they will rescind me, is it possible for me to commit to both schools? I’m really confused on what to do.
No you can only SIR to 1 school by May 1. If you do SIR to 2 schools and if they do find out (which they can), you will be rescinded from both. If CSU Fullerton states your D is ok, go with the sure thing. UC’s can and will rescind for D’s, so that is a chance you have to take if you want to go to UCR.
It is physically possible to commit to more than one school. The campus systems aren’t so tied together that the second SIR would be rejected. That said, if they find out you have done so, both admissions are at risk.
I’d have a sit down face to face meeting with the admissions folks at UCR and press them for a more complete answer. Simply tell them they are your preferred destination but, you can’t do with the uncertainty of their response. If they won’t commit, you can’t either so, you have no choice but to head to Fullerton. I am pretty confident theey will work with you.
I agree with NCalRent.
Make an appointment for a face-to-face meting at UCR. If they’re your first choice, it’s worth making the effort.
Bring your transcript with you, as well as a written
explanation as to what happened and how you’ve tried to correct it and intend to prevent ‘D’s’ in your future studies.
Again, let them know that they are your number one choice and ask them for a determination prior to the May 1 deadline. If they will not work with you, then submit your SIR to Fullerton.
