Is it possible to double major in IS and CS?

Would that be much of a stretch?

I was considering this also - if you look at the IS curriculum some CS courses are already required - alas I have yet to compare that to the requirements needed to get a degree in CS.

It is, my S did it. He also got MS in IS (called MISM program), the whole thing took 5 years and included a summer. I'd recommend staying for the MISM esp if you can get in the amp (accelerated masters program) like he did (I think after 2nd year but not sure, you take GRE's etc and formally apply) since you get it over faster. Also you're still officially an undergrad that 5th year so if you have financial aid that remains for the 5th yr.

The advisor was helpful, even allowing S to not have to take at least a couple MISM courses (covered the material here and there).

Of course I don't know the specifics but from a lay person I do remember: basically he took the math and the programming courses that the CS majors take, rather than the easier IS series. All you need is a C if I recall, I think the courses were 211 and 212 and a couple others, which required a ton of work. A number of kids trying for the double major couldn't make it through those CS courses.

I was a bit skeptical when he decided his plans (two techy degrees) but he assured me they're different. CS is significantly harder he told me enough times. But IS esp at CMU is a top program on its own. On the plus side you have all your bases covered with these 2 (or 3) degrees. He said there was nothing he was asked in any interview that he hadn't covered somewhere so the interview process went well.
