I attend a local community college and applied to several schools. Unfortunately, I got rejected from one of the schools I really wanted to attend due to poor grades. Meanwhile, I got accepted to the other college. The college I got rejected from is Stony Brook and I got accepted into Farmingdale State college. I was wondering if it would be possible for me to transfer from Farmingdale to Stony within a semester? Also since both are SUNY schools, I heard all credits transfer from one of my professor, is this true? Thanks for your help.
It’s possible, but I don’t think you are going to get into Stony Brook if you are transferring from Farmingdale State college. BTW, when did you found out your rejection?
Last night, what makes you think stony brook won’t accept me after attending Farmingdale?
It is not unheard of.
I would really appreciate if someone can give me a solid answer. I am so stressed out right now and i do not know what to do. Who can I talk to about this? I tried to talk to the counselors and they do not help at all.
No one on here (unless they work for the specific schools you’re applying to/working with) can give you a solid answer. Your best bet would probably be to directly ask Stony Brook how they view applicants who have transferred multiple times. I would guess that they may view them slightly less favorably than applicants transferring for the first time, but that’s pure speculation.
ahh thank you so much, i will contact stony brook soon.
Can you transfer more than once? Yes, you can. I know several people who have done that.
Will you be able to transfer to Stony Brook after a semester (or longer) year at Farmingdale? No one would know the answer to that except the transfer admissions officers at Stony Brook after you’ve earned those credits and pulled your GPA up. However, transfer after only one semester is not likely because you won’t have any real grades yet when you send in that application. All Stony Brook will have to work on is your CC grades and estimated grades from your mid-semester report.
Can you stay at the CC and fix your grades? Or, are you finishing up your second year there now, and need to move on?
