I’m attending University at Albany Students Acceptance day tomorrow! Any important questions I should ask tomorrow?
I think you should visit the office of disability services to find out how you will be accommodated and how they will deliver the services that you need
Congrats!
Congrats! My niece graduated from UAlbany 2 years ago and we attended graduation. It was a really cool campus, with a nice up and coming vibe. They have underground tunnels so you can get to class in the winter out of the weather. Albany is an interesting town, and I know they have an active bus service so you can get around without a car.
Ask about the tuition benefit of your dad’s and what documents they need to apply that.
Update: So today I got sad news. I didn’t get accepted to Penn State University. Although I’m disappointed, I’m very happy for myself. I never thought when I was in high school I will be attending a four-year university. The tradition from High school to Community College has challenged me. I never thought I was capable of doing college work. So this coming fall I will be attending Univesity at Albany studying Meteorology. I’m not 100 percent sure I want to do a double major but I will let you know how I’m doing! I may end up doing a minor in chemistry or biochemistry but I’m not sure. I know graduate school is a long term, but I already have a list of what universities I want to apply. Any tips or suggestions please comment below. I will defiantly read it.
Just to throw out there the long term of graduate school:
Penn State University
University of Oklahoma
Florida State University
University of Washington
Good luck!
Albany is going to be great. Once you are there…you probably can get some advice about graduate schools from your advisors there.
Congratulations!
Update: I wasn’t really rejected to Penn State. I didn’t get into the program of my choice meteorology. Lack of prerequisites. Im thinking of applying to another major which is economics or something. And penn State rejection letter is by far the best one of all I applied too.
Then apply for the meteorolgoy major again. Not sure, yet. I’m saying this because I might get my application rescind to albany.
Do you mean your acceptance to SUNY Albany could be rescinded? Why?
Things to think about:
- Do you have the prereqs for econ or any of your other choices?
- When would you be applying for your new choice of major? I'd imagine deadlines for this fall have already passed?
- Is it even feasible to apply for one major and then switch? For current Penn State students who are already in a major, it's not easy.
And…why would you be rescinded?
Completed microeconomics and macroeconomics. Did it for my soical science requirement. I’m not sure, probably because I withdraw from my physics class. I audit Organic Chemistry 2. I hope I don’t get rescinded.
I guess transfer is different becuase the admission counselor told me to email him if I want to change another major for Fall
If you have a rejection letter from Penn State, you were rejected. I wouldn’t assume you’ll be accepted if you apply with a different major. It was too expensive for your family anyway, wasn’t it? If you take 3 years to finish wherever you transfer to (which is a possibility since you’re in your 3rd year of cc), then you need to pick a school that will be affordable for all 3 years.
If you’re concerned about being rescinded from Albany, call them. If your GPA meets the requirements, I don’t know why you’d think you have a problem. SUNY Albany is a great financial fit because your dad’s job will cover the tuition. I know you prefer Penn State, but I think you need to focus on your affordable option.
I actually didn’t get rejected to penn state. I didn’t get into my program of choice. The letter said I could be reconsidered for another major of my choice.
I don’t mind going to albany, just the fact that I’m worried about rescinded
Re: prereqs for meteorology – is it just the 8 credits calculus and 8 credits physics?
Yes.
Calculus 2
General physics 1 and 2
Did you not have all three of those?
Now I’m a little baffled that you picked this fall as the time to apply if all of those classes are hard requirements?
