Is it true?

We’re talking about all the other UCs except UCLA and UCB. The other UCs DO NOT look at personal statements or extra curriculars / volunteer / employment. Like for UCSD, last year (2012) if you had above a 3.2X GPA, and applying with a non-impacted major, you were in. They don’t admit you by major (except UCLA and UCB).

Last year 2012? What are you talking about?

I copied from another post on 2013.

That was true. For a while, despite the matrix saying UCB,UCLA, Merced and Irvine, the word from UC counselors was only UCLA and UCB looked at PS. But now supposedly it’s back to those four, plus UCSD. Five total.

Thank you. How about extra curriculars / volunteer / employment?

Hi Linfyk8,
Do you know where to find the matrix for 2015-2016?

See page 36:

Work counts as an EC. They aren’t as strict about ECs with transfers but it always improves your chances, esp if the major is selective.

I got into UCSD with a mediocre GPA and a rather long internship for a prestigious doctor and what I assume were 2 pretty decent personal statements (I wrote them in 30 minutes and never had them proofread).
