Is last year's accepted thread realistic of all the accepted?

Looking at the CC NYU accepted thread from last year is intimidating... Almost everyone that was "accepted" had over a 1400 SAT I... I know NYU is competitive, but a lot of the acceptees stats were similar to the ivy applicants.. Are CC people just really smart, or is NYU just really really selective?

Do people with SATs not comparable to those on the accepted thread (maybe like 1300s-high 1300s) get in as well? Are those people on the accepted thread top of the applicants applying (considering a lot of them got scholarship $$$)

I have the same questions. I've come to the realization though that CCers are among the elite of the US applicants...afterall we're all here because we value our future and what college we get into. Most CCers have high SAT's and GPA and EC's...but some could be lieng too. I doubt everyone that applies to NYU has such stats as the ones listed. For example, I saw this on the ******* website which gave me hope.

Go to http://www.pr_stats.com/2009/ and search for the user "Hollaratme_S"

He had 1250 SAT and not so great SAT II's as well as a 3.2 GPA. His EC's are good and Stern accepted him. I have similar EC's along with more business leadership/ community service leadership roles, a higher gpa, and around the same SAT's. Hopefully I'll be as lucky as he is.

remove the _ ..CC blocks that site

parikhs: that's giving me hope too.

I am in the process to early decision..did he early decision? That link isn't working for me.

umm, i got 1300 on the SAT, 740 on writing, 650 on math IC, 610 on UShistory, unsure of my GPA cuz my school doesn't do 4.0 scale, but it was like a 95/100 from a pretty crappy NJ public highschool [i quit catholic school a month in]...i had a bunch of extracurriculars, captain of volleyball & softball for years, pres of spanish honor society, treasurer of NHS, treasurer of student council, student of the month, blah, blah, blah, etc, etc, etc, and my essays were kinda silly and nothing spectacular, teacher recs were prolly decent...and i got a $13,500 scholarship to steinhardt, along with a bunch of loans and workstudy...

some people say steinhardt is less competitive to get into, which it is in comparison to stern & tisch, but i'm sure there were people with higher SATs that didn't get in, so who the hell knows...

...and i was RD

i just figured i'd add my two cents :D
