Is Rutgers an easy school to get into?

I have a 3.4 GPA and a 1650 SAT score and i got wait listed. My friend is in all AP classes and she got rejected. Rutgers by no means is a saftey school.

Did you have a question? Or just wanted to make a statement?

Rutgers a competitive public flagship university. The issue is more with NJ, where you have a very large population of competitive students who dream about out of state private and public universities.

We have several threads going on about great schools for “B” students. Lots to choose from…I’m sure you’ll find the right place.

Good Luck!

EDIT: Adding a link for Rutgers fall midrange chart of regularly admitted 2015 Freshman (SAT/ACT/GPA/Class Rank).

Also, though I don’t care for the term, what constitutes a “safety school” is relative.

Eh well it depends on which school you applied to. Rutgers pharmacy is difficult to get into. However, Rutgers school of arts and sciences is pretty lenient with their acceptances (especially for in state applicants). Also the area matters as well. Rutgers NB is harder to get into than Rutgers Newark or Camden

You can check the Rutgers class profile and see how your stats compare. Rutgers can be a reach school for some and a safety for others.

For the OP Rutgers-NB is a reach.

As for the friend with all AP classes, if he got all C’s in the AP classes hat would explain his rejection.

Rutgers Mason Gross School of the Arts generally has the lowest stats in the link provided at post #1. The OP is below the 25%ile in both scores and GPA. Not a safety for the OP. Students need to look at the freshman profile or Common Data Set to see how they compare to admitted students.

I have a 3.4 GPA and 1450 SAT score and I got rejected. Then again 200 out of 510 seniors at my school applied to Rutgers. Rutgers students very commonly come from my high school(It even says so on Niche), as my school is less than 8 miles away from Rutgers. It took forever for Rutgers to reject me, so one of the main reasons I got rejected from Rutgers was due to competition/# of applicants.

NO SCHOOL IS A GUARANTEE, EVEN SAFETIES. My friend has a 3.4 GPA & 1600 SAT and is wait listed for Montclair but accepted to Rutgers and Rowan. My friend with a 3.3 GPA and 1400 SAT got rejected from William Paterson but accepted to Rowan.
