Is the Math Level 2 required, or is the Level 1 test fine?

Math Level 2 is strongly recommended, which basically means you should take it.

I took it, and even though I did badly (710), I still got admitted! Though I must say my two highest scores were in Literature and US History, which were 760 and 750, respectively, so perhaps the low math score did not affect my application so much.

I assume that it would be unwise for me not to take a Math SATII at all, true?

take the test.
it's probably one of the easier test for math/science oriented people

I do well in math and science, but they are not my strongest points. I took a Princeton Review Diganostic Test for MathII the other day and got a 670. I'm going to have a tutor from PR for the SATII's, so I'm thinking my score will definitely go up.

i didn't take it at all - i delayed taking it until the very last time i could and thought i'd signed up for it but actually didn't and was so fed up with stanford that i refused to go standby and take it....but still got in. dunno if you want to risk it tho...it was pretty obvious i wasn't a math/science person tho, and i called the admissions office when i was in freak-out mode and they said that people were admitted without it but that most people did take it and it gave adcoms a more comprehensive picture of the applicant.
