Don't bother bringing your clubs. There aren't that many places to play within an hour of the city, and you will be too busy making friends and adjusting to school first semester to want to go to Jersey or upstate NY anyhow. If you really feel the need, maybe bring them out second semester. I'm an avid golfer but my clubs have been sitting in my garage since I went to NYU.

are there good places to lean golf? i really want to for future and as new hobby.

Hi I'm an incoming freshman too and I learned to play golf in NYC so maybe I can help. I'll say I dunno if I'm bringing my clubs but I live in brooklyn so it's not to tough to go by my parents and grab em but anyway chelsea piers has a really nice driving range and an interactive course where you virtual golf. Then in Brooklyn we have 2 courses Marine Park and Dyker Beach. Marine Park is pretty crappy as it's a marshland they converted into a course. Dyker Beach is very nice but crowded you gotta make tee-times in advance. The Bronx has some very nice courses as well as does queens. Staten Island has the best courses in NYC but it's a pain to get to cuz if you dont drive you'll need to take the ferry. Overall there is nowhere to play golf on a course in manhattan so you would have to drag clubs on a train or rent at the course. Hope this helps.

thanks for everyone's info.

Now I have a free golf club for someone :|

Maybe I can give it to kim jung il's sixth son....

hey don't get discouraged im sure you can play if you want to!
ps do you really live in North Korea??

Well...
I live 70 miles away from Pyongyang....

Oh wow that's close. Have you been to Kumgang-san? That's probably close to you as well, rite?

yeah, there are a lot of public courses in the bronx which is a short subway ride from NYU.
