Alright so I am a sophmore transfer student who just started at my new school a couple of weeks ago. I am not living in a dorm, but rather in a fraternity house that is just off campus. However, I dont really quite get along with the brothers here, so I figured that I would try to join another fraternity. I found one that I really liked, went to all of their rush events, parties, etc. The problem is that they didnt give me the bid. Now since I had spent alot of my time hanging out with them in hopes of getting the bid, Ive found it to be pretty tough to meet new people. So I am wondering, would it be a bad idea for me to try and rush again in the spring? I really enjoyed hanging out with them and felt like I really fit in, but im afraid it would be sort of awkward since they already rejected me. Also, since I am sort of friends with some of the brothers, would it be wierd for me to ask to hang out with them?

Why are you so intent on being in a frat? You can definitely still make friends outside of frats.

frats < not buying your friends

Don't listen to the people who don't understand frats. If you didn't get a bid then either they didn't have much space yet they had many good applicants or they didn't share your feelings about fit. Before you rush again perhaps you should talk to the friends you have in that fraternity, the worst that could happen is they tell you that they aren't allowed to talk about it.

Maybe you should look around at the other fraternities, rush in a couple that you like, and then see where you get bids -- it's what I did and it worked very well.

I am a sophmore transfer student too....I've tried to search for some fraternities, but unfortunately,I haven't found any one I am really interested in.

No, one of my friends didn't get a bid in the spring so he rushed again this fall. I know people who rushed 3 times. Don't worry about it its only awkward if you make it like that.

if 100% you think you can get in the next time around then go for it

yea, rush again.where are you living now then? the old frat?
