Is this a good plan?

So, I’m a rising junior this year. I took the ACT when I was in 7th-8th grade but didn’t get such a great score (it was for the Duke TIP program, and I did get what was considered a passing score.) I don’t remember too much from it. When I took the PSAT this past year, I did worst on the reading / grammar section, and from that I decided that the ACT was more my taste. I purchased the Real ACT Review Book and I plan on taking the test this October or November after studying, then taking it again in March.

I’m having second thoughts, though.

Should I only take it once this year? If I take it once, should I take it in March so I have more time to study? I’d prefer to take it more February or March just to keep it a good few weeks apart from the AP Exams in May. I’m not really sure if it’s smart to take it twice in such a short timeframe, so I was wondering if I should just take it once this year and once next year?

Thanks for all the tips. (:

I personally would suggest getting it done before beginning senior year. I would sign up to take a test this fall/winter and then another in spring if the score wasn’t high enough. However, since you only want to take it once this year, I would suggest that you take it at a time where you would have a week(or weeks) to study for it beforehand without worrying about other commitments.
