2 questions: does minority include Asians and if you don't get the letter does that mean you didn't get in?

no..the majority of admits do not get this letter. Don't freak out.

haha... im just feeling a little tipsy today after getting the MIT reject

I got the likely letter saying I will be admitted,, but no diversity letter..so I dont think the likely letters are for Minorities only.

Still, some of these people getting in are mad about not getting perfect scores, and have built schools in India and such. Very difficult to get into respectable colleges these days

okay, for those of you who got likely letters from cas, what nationality are you and what are you stats?

Congratulations again to Higherground. Clearly you are a multi-talented scholar-athlete. Is Cornell your first choice?

mdcissp,
thank you.. as I mentioned I am new to this site. apparently I seemed to infuriate some people, which I had no intention of doing.. I was watching the site for a couple of days and decided to join. didn't seem to say the right things however..Visited Cornell, its beautiful and far though..

To Higherground: Since you are a scholar-athlete plus play an instrument, you will easily get accepted into top schools like Cornell. Be happy that you have many acceptances and just have to decide which school you want! As far as the reactions of others, people are nervous now because it is a very long wait until April 1, especially for those who worked very hard to get a top college placement. Everyone would love to get a likely letter similar to yours.

does any one know if there are any more likelys coming out? i'm not sure if this has been asked (although I'm sure it has been) And I realize that only a small percentage gets letters, but just wondering

REASONS I THINK OUR LIKELY LETTERS ARE ACCEPTANCE LETTERS IN DISGUISE
1) You can't tell me its likely I got in and then NOT accept me
2) Acceptance leters come April 1st, it's on on April 10th and they wouldn't spend on plane tickets and a charter bus for people who aren't getting in
3) When you click on the link on the e-mail l and go to PROGRAM SCHEDULE it says: Dinner w/ YOUR college

AND

What are “Likely Letters” Like? - Ask The Dean

"Typically, Likely Letters are sent to applicants several weeks before official admission verdicts are slated to go out. This usually means some time in October for Early Decision/Action applicants and late-February or March for Regular Decision students. The gist of these missives is: “We fully plan to accept you so you can breathe a sigh of relief, but don’t screw up between now and when you get your official acceptance because this one isn’t quite official.”

So MINORITIES (AND NON) WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

new york city

VA

genesis, allow me to add:

4) The first sentence on the DHW page SAYS its only for ACCEPTED students
5) The Cornell Days invitation is also only for "admitted students"

WE'RE IN, BABY...WOOOHOO!

Excellent. I just hope I don't get accepted into Yale too. That's not a decision I wan to make.

genesis.............i would be so happy if i had to face that decision, you have no idea........... celebrate..........be happy!
