Is this racism?

I was offered the chance to become a black man. I would have all the knowledge and memory of being a white person. I said no.

Am I a racist?

No, that would not make you a racist. I bet if you ask most black men they would not want to before white if given the choice.

what the heck.. you can't be "offered the chance" to become a black man... that's the dumbest thing i've heard in a long time

you can take the Michael Jackson pill to turn white, so there must be something to turn you black?

you can get darker skin if you tan a little.

You can temporarily change your skin's pigment... like the guy did in the book "Black Like Me."

wait... are y'all talking about "black" literally, or "black" in spirit (like y'know, the stereotypes of black ppl listening to rap, pimpoing, hustling, bustin cap's in asses etc.)

i think most people would choose to remain white, not neccessarily because they're racist, but because society tends to be. even if you would not think less of yourself, you'd be judged and stereotyped in ways white people don't have to deal with. until everyone stops discriminating, disadvantages are practically built into being black. :(

i just think people, no matter what their skin color, would choose to stay the same.

If you became "black" and had the knowledge and memory of being a white person then you would not in fact be black. To really "be black" it would have to be the whole package. Such thought experiments don't prove anything.

"If you became "black" and had the knowledge and memory of being a white person then you would not in fact be black. To really "be black" it would have to be the whole package."

According to whom?

pick to be biracial...all the 1/2 white 1/2 black people i know tend to be extremely good looking

... LoL! as long as your stereotyping then... do NOT pick to be biracial when it comes to asian and black... it doesn't look that great, and having slanted eyes and black skin... imagine how much - ur kids will take

they'll kick @$$ at golf, get rich, and marry a supermodel. who dares give them flak then?

go stereotyping go!

I would just like to submit that I have never met a single half asian, half white person, male or female, who was not hot. Somehow those genes just line up.

looks like i gotta marry a white chick now...

There is a book about a white guy who made his skin dark enough to pass off as being black. It is called, "Black Like Me" by John Howard Griffin.

"they'll kick @$$ at golf, get rich, and marry a supermodel. who dares give them flak then?

go stereotyping go!"

haha

for solely physical aspects, there's more to being "black" or any other race for that matter, than skin color. it's all in the facial features...

anyways, regarding the original post, no you aren't racist per se. like others said, it's an effect of society. there is rampant de facto racism, racial profiling, etc. sad and unfair, but that's life, a white person would want to stay white.

yea, but i'm pretty sure a black person would want to stay black, an asian person asian, and so forth. so moot point.
