is this wrong??? how do i fix this???

Okay so at my school, if you receive an "F", obviously you have to retake it to receive credit, but the next time you take the course, your bad grade, or the "F" still show. Is this wrong? Should they be doing this? And how would I go about fixing this? PLEASE HELP, I am going through this and I received these bad grades because i was excessively absent, and as they are math classes, they are hard to keep up with. All my other classes have good grades, and with that all the other classes are the highest offered to me, all AP and honors. If I were to apply to ivies, or other highly selective colleges, would the "F" still hurt me, even though everything else is good grade wise, and a high GPA, I have amazing extracurriculars, and I could even contend for being a recruited athlete. Also, I don't know if this changes anything but I am black and have a single mother, with 2 siblings, live with grandmother, and my mothers income is 40,000...

PLEASE HELP AND THANK YOU SO MUCH IF YOU DO!!!

I’m not sure about the high school level (it sounds like this is a high school student question), but in college typically when you retake a course, the new grade replaces the old grade in GPA calculation, but the original grade still stays on the transcript. You can’t hide it, but you can show that you’ve repeated the course and done much better the second time. I think the case would be similar for high school, but maybe not. Talk to your guidance counselor, or whoever is responsible for counseling students applying to college at your school. They should know the answer, or at least who to ask if they don’t.

bumpppppppppp

…

I think it really depends on your high school’s policies. This question should be answered by a guidance counselor or vice principal.
