<p>It's actually moreso the other way around. Those at UCI/UCSB/UCD generally like to bring UCSD down to their tier. You are no different than them. I've talked to doctors on the decision of UCD vs UCSD in my past as far as pre-med goes and I don't hesitate to say that 100% of them told me UCSD is considered more respected.</p>
<p>I also believe that UCI=UCSD. There are some very bright people at UCI. In the end of the day, it doesnt matter though, because nobody memorizes these rankings and they are so subjective as well. They are both great schools and all of you will have great opportunties.</p>

If I don’t get into UCI, I guess I’ll go to UCSD in the Winter. I’m not sure if I would stay at Cal or go to CC for Fall though. I hate having to worry about all this right now with a final on Fri and 3 finals on Sat! Because I’m definitely more passionate about transferring than studying for classes, and I’d rather do the prior lol

<p>lol no UC is truly “prestigious”, in the purest sense of the word, save for maybe Cal. Prestige comes with hundreds of years of reputation. Stanford is prestigious, University of Chicago is prestigious.</p>
<p>On the other hand, UCI has one of the best informatics and bio sci departments in the world. But that does not translate into prestige, it translates into academic quality.</p>
