I'm not asking for Berkeley or LA, I'm not even asking for San Diego! I just want to get accepted at UC Irvine and I'll be happy. So far all my applications are still "in review" except Santa Cruz which offered me admission. Then I read the thread about all those people who were REJECTED by Santa Cruz with stats similar to mine! Is it just a crapshoot at this point? Someone tell me I have a good chance for UCI!

GPA: 3.49
Major: Spanish
IGETC: certified after spring
Pre Reqs: all done but one (I explained why in my application)
Essays: at least GOOD, if not VERY good...

Rejected at UCR with a 3.8? Tell me you had some major requirement missing form your application, like you never took any english classes or something... Do the admissions people just toss a coin to see who gets in?
.....I'm doomed.

East La, if you had any appreciable reading comprehension skills you would realize that I said UCI is not easier to get into than UCSD. I did not say UCI>UCSD. your claim is irrelevant, whether it is a lie or not.

Better schools are generally harder to get into, no? Is that correlation not strong enough for you to infer from my statement that I was directly addressing admission difficulty? Jeez, what the hell is your problem? Since, ironically, you are the one lacking comprehension skills, I'll slow down for you...

UCSD is more difficult to get into than UCI.

youre not really "bagging" on irvine. its just that as cc students, you are not guaranteed anything, not even uci, with a 3.8 gpa. ive seen some of the former 3.8's fail out of intro bio courses when they go to irvine. it just bothers me when i see cc people think they are entitled to get in anywhere at all, when in fact cc gpa is very unrelated to the ability to excel at any of the UC's. and the only people in mainstream society that consider ucsd>uci are those who went to ucsd.

and if you would like to look up specific statistics on uc statfinder,
average enrolled ucsd transfer = 3.31, uci= 3.27. rofl. you people all act the same i swear

I don't usually partake in useless polemics, but don't let emotion override the logic in your arguments. Your post was perfect until you said that

which is blatantly false. UCSD is better than UC Irvine and I think that the greater majority of "mainstream society" would agree - let's not hyperbolize, now, though, and say that it is far superior.

Regardless, I think it's useless to talk crap about UC schools when everyone here is at a CC.

No. Mainstream society does not know the intricacies of the california public education well enough to be able to realize the miniscule and negligible difference between irvine and sd, not only in admissions, but in practically every other field. In many fields, Irvine is light years ahead of ucsd, particularly in business admin/econ, literature, social sciences, and engineering (excluding biomedical engineering). In biology, ucsd is better.

I will say this again. Nobody agrees with your ****tard ideology, except for ucsd students, former and current, and community college students.
