wondering if anyone has successfully asked for more scholarship money from IUB and got it? My DS got 1410SAT and has 3.7 GPA. Got direct admit to Kelley in a petition. He currently just got a 4.1GPA this senior year. (but nowhere does IUB seem to even look at senior year grades)
who should I contact?
thanks
Getting more merit aid is very unlikely.
IU will accept updated test scores until January 17th for additional scholarship consideration if you submitted your application by Nov 1. I’m not sure if they will accept updated GPA’s as well. I’d contact the Office of Scholarships to find out.
My daughter is a sophomore at IU. She tried calling to get her merit scholarship increased two years ago before she accepted. The person she talked to what was quite unpleasant about her calling and told her that they do not increase the amount.
BTW, she absolutely loves going to IU.
I’ve never heard of them giving more money and they really have no reason to. IU will still have plenty of students without offering more money.
thank you for your replies. I’m a little surprised that they take updated test scores to give bigger amounts, but don’t consider grades or how hard you may have worked senior year. The amount they gave for Provost is laughable when you consider the cost of attendance. It barely covers cost of gas!
Students are eligible to apply for additional scholarships each year through the IU Foundation. Some are tied to specific colleges, activities and clubs (Little 500, greek life, IU student foundation). It never hurts to ask for a “professional review” of your FinAid package especially if there are new financial circumstances in 2017 that could not be reflected on the FASFA based on 2016 taxes. There is a methodology for going about this and examples on the web. I think the highest in-state Provost award was 8K and 11K for out of state.
