Provost Scholarship

How much did you guys get for Provost and what were your stats?

A note from the Office of Scholarships - the Dean’s and Provost’s scholarships are test blind this year, meaning that test scores are not considered whatsoever for the scholarships. High school performance based on transcript information, coursework taken, academic rigor, and your admissions materials are the main things being used.

Additionally, for those interested in the top $11000 (Dean’s) and $8000 (Provost’s) scholarships, these apparently will not be selected until this spring.

@ryders3 Thanks for the info. So you didn’t get anything about the provost scholarship in your packet? If they’re waiting until spring?

@belair0522 I received a $7k provost in my packet. i think that’s the max that they will notify you of right now, with the $8k being announced in the spring

@ryders3 gotcha thanks. We are OOS so not so patiently waiting for the packet in the mail.

@ryders3 and congratulations!

@belair0522 thank you!

11k. 35 ACT and 4.4 GPA - was out of state and was last year though - was deans. Got holland Hudson thing too for 3-4K if i recall. Ended up not going.

@ryders3 where online is that detail about scholarships being test blind this year?Meaning that test scores are not considered whatsoever for the scholarships.

High school performance based on transcript information, coursework taken, academic rigor, and your admissions materials are the main things being used.

And that the top $11000 (Dean’s) and $8000 (Provost’s) scholarships, will not be selected until this spring?

Thanks

Received 2k a year (Provost In-State)

4.25 weighted GPA, 1360 SAT and 27 ACT

@fanoffriends it actually is not posted on the IU scholarship page. I assumed that if you had test scores they would be considered, but apparently not. And the rest of what you said is correct according to the email I got from the scholarship office.

@ryders3 thanks so you got an email from the scholarship office. was that how you got your scholarship details or did it come in the regular mail?

@fanoffriends the Provost and Deans scholarship details come with your physical acceptance package. The email was in response to a question I had for the scholarship office

For the IU Merit Based scholarships, any other paperwork I need to complete? Like a FAFSA or something?

Got the packet today. It had SSA info but no merit aid. DD has high test score but GPA is not fantastic (super rigorous schedule though). Does this mean no merit (provost) or are some notifications of merit coming later?

@Clover2018 as I mentioned previously, test scores are not being considered for the Dean’s and Provost’s scholarships this year. The packet generally includes merit aid notifications, but in past years people have received increased amounts in the spring once financial aid is finalized (due to increases in test scores). Will they do a similar process for GPA this year? I’m not sure.

DS received packet yesterday in the mail and had an $8,000 per year Deans Scholarship. Also invitation to apply for other scholarships through SSA. (OOS, 34 ACT, 4.15 GPA W).

I’m in the class of 2023 I had a 3.89 GPA and a 1360 SAT and got 3,000 a year from my provost. (IS) More importantly though I just wanted to let some people know that the IU financial aid department is super receptive if you email them and say you need more scholarships to attend. ( I just sent an email with a plea for more money and reasons why I needed it and filled out the SSA and ended up with ~17,000 a year) it might not work for everyone but it’s seriously worth sending the email if you think this is the school for you.

@Clover2018 Are you certain there was not an additional letter in the packet from the Scholarship Office - noted on top of the cream letterhead? The two letters may be stuck together, the one from admissions and the one from the scholarship office. Quadruple check!

fanoffriends - She had 2 letters. The first was the acceptance and the second was the invite to apply to supplemental scholarships. There was no mention of provost/merit aid. She has a 3.82 (with very challenging courses) and a 1490, so based on past years we thought she would get something. However, if they are just looking at GPAs (which can vary widely based upon types of classes taken and HS weighting) I can understand why she didn’t get any. Wish they would consider standardized test scores for those who had them since GPA can vary so much. Oh well.
