Hi, everyone! I'm a community college graduate who transferred to a top liberal arts college (and, since everyone here cares about it so much, also had multiple Ivy acceptances). In addition, I was also named a Jack Kent Cooke Scholar and a member of the All-USA Community College Academic First Team, which are the two highest honors community college students can receive.

If you have any questions about the national community college scholarship programs (I won others as well), how to get admission to the elite of the elites, what life is like after transfer, or anything else, please don't hesitate to ask me! I'm not going to give my college name or anything else personally identifiable, but I DO want you to ask me about anything you might want to know.

As a JKC Scholar, I can count among my best friends students who have transferred from community colleges to schools like Stanford, Harvard, Berkeley, Yale, and on and on. Believe in yourself and work hard, and it can happen! And I'd love to help you get to that point.

(Not here on behalf of the JKCF or any other organization; I just want to help students out.)

Hello yes i actually do have a question. Im currently at a community college in virginia. I will soon fulfull my associates reqirements for business at which i will be starting to apply to four year institiutions. I know that for the JKC scholarship i can not nominate myself, so how does that work? i have a 3.7 and i am one of the officers of the Rotaract club and hoping to join PTK soon. What are my chances with that?

my second question does not have much to do with the scholarship itself, but in highschool my gpa was 2.0, i came to community college and worked really hard to obtain the gpa i have now…i want to apply to johns hopkins univ. but i feel like even if i were to get accepted, i would be to scared to attend. Not because of the tution issue but rather accademicly, im def. not a person that can pull an all nighter and somehow pull off getting an A in class. I truly work hard for my grades, in that i DO always select teachers that i know will see my hard work to help me with a good grade. Reading some reviews people say that JHU is not for everyone? I really want to attend but im scared at the same time.

HI! Im barely in august starting freshman year in a chicago community college. What are some of the things i have to do so i can get into a top selective university. Im planning to join PHI Theta Kappa but i don’t know if thats going to help in any way.
One college i really want to get in to is University of Rochester.

How did you become a JKC scholar? Your status?

Please tell me more about scholarships designated for cc students which International students can also apply.

I fail all my classes in one gloomy winter quarter. For other classes they are all 4.0 and 3.9s with only one that drops below 3.8. I am wondering whether it is possible for me to join the All-USA Community College Academic First Team.

This may’ve been a case of controlled gloating or self-congratulating. I’ll tell you, I graduated from a community college. I won a Coca-Cola Scholars medal, was a member of the 2009 All-USA team, and will be attending an ivy. However, I won’t gloat because it was the work of a lot of people - family and faculty included - that created the foundation of my success.

PM me with specific questions and I’ll gladly take the time to respond. Best of luck, people!
