Jack Kent Cooke Transfer Scholarship Applicants 2019-2020

good luck to everyone on their college results soon, and thank you to all who congratulated me on my acceptance to Williams!! question— do you guys think I should call or email the foundation and let them know I was admitted? Or would it do little at this point?

@glassturtle Congratulations on Williams! That was the first college I received a response from, and I was rejected. :frowning:

Also, I did email the foundation and told them I had some application updates and asked if I should submit them. They are like, final grades from last semester, graduating, etc. I haven’t heard back, but if you want, I can let you know the response I receive. Although, if you decided to call/email, please let mw know the response.

@glassturtle Congrats. I would say call them and ask them if you should submit your letter of acceptance. Good luck bud.

You don’t think it would be too late?? And thank you!!

yes please let me know your response from them!! also, do you know if the foundation has weekend hours?

@Dreambbig thanks so much, really looking forward to that Cornell decision. Wishing the best of luck!

@kb199977 I have been at my college for 3 years (and I took a class there 6 years ago too but only one), and I have around 90 units.

@Dreambbig came out of my lurking status to say thank you for sharing what you learned from the rep! I’ve been a nervous wreck waiting. Although we can only be hopeful, for a while there I felt I had no chance with no interview. Good luck to y’all!

@Dreambbig didn’t you ask the jkcf lady when will they announce the final recipient? Mid April or end? Its 6th already ?

@Noor46 She won’t be able to answer that, but she did say that this year-since they added interviews and with extending the deadline period- it might be little bit pass the 10th of April, because that is their usual time when they announce the finalists. I know that these coming weeks will be overwhelming on all of us. Wish you all best of luck, and if I get any update I will for sure ket you guys know. :v:?

Hello all! I made an account just to comment on this thread. I’m a semifinalist and with it being April now I’ve been getting a bit antsy (I’m sure everyone on here is haha)

I see a lot of people have gotten interviews or at least a follow up email asking for additional financial info. I just wanted to know if since I have not received a second email from JKC, would you all think it safe to say I’m out of the running? Best of luck to you all

After reading through this thread, it seems as though not everyone is getting an interview and that doesn’t necessarily mean you are out of the running. But, and I do not know how accurate this is, I was told (when I called on Friday) that finalists won’t be notified until the first week in May. But I was told to continue to provide updates to my original application. So I am sending an email later tonight with all of my updates.

I hope that helps, although I feel like it just makes it more confusing. Ha ha.

@JellyPeeps so you think I should call and do the same? This process has really been extended more than i thought it might be

@glassturtle I would update them on any changes to your original application. So if you were accepted to William’s and plan to attend, let them know. That could help. From what I understand, some semifinalists didnt even apply to transfer last year and weren’t prepared to even use the scholarship.

So if they have already made decisions and you are in or already out, you just sent extra info. If they are still deciding, anything extra could help your chances. So there is nothing to lose.

Ugh. Autocorrect.

Williams.

If you get into Williams you don’t need JKC because they will package you good. They have one of the friendliest financial aid. It wouldn’t change their mind because the purpose of JKC is to help in financial difficulty.

Well, you may not outright NEED JKC, but the only way to be eligible for the graduate scholarship is to win the undergrad scholarship. So, I still think it is worth doing your best.

If anyone hear anything from the following universities will you please share it? Universities are: Brown, Cornell, Yale, Johns Hopkins, Harvard, Columbia, Stanford, Caltech, Washington, Princeton, GeorgiaTech. Thank you so much. I have not heard anything from JKCF yet. If it is not this week then perhaps the next one. Good luck to all of you, you did what you can??.

@dreambbig which program did you apply to Yale through? Regular transfer vs EWS? I have heard from regular transfer applicants that they are interviewing this week while I have an Eli Whitney Scholar interview scheduled during the window they set for that which is “between April 26 through May 6.” as do a couple of other people I have spoken to.

@dreambig I just received an email from JKC asking my to email them any updates that were made between the time of my application and now (that wouldn’t have shown up on the Common App). So I don’t know what that means in terms of time frame, but the more you know…
