@adorse26 I’m in the same boat as you, my semester ends may 13th but the next week is rehearsal & graduation
my semester ends on May 25th
My last day on campus is April 29th, and my graduation ceremony is on May 9th. This is so disappointing.
Maybe they are planning on doing the surprises during finals or graduation since they can guarantee you will be there! I read a couple surprises gone bad from past years when a student was not there when they went to do the surprise! Let’s stay postive!!
My last day is May 6 and my graduation is May 15. I don’t understand what the hold up is. They have less applicants, only one phase, and its been already almost two months after when they were suppose to announce it. Plus there are quite a few they probably could have tossed into the “no” pile. Did any one who called or spoke to the foundation know why they keep delaying?
I’m getting kind of discouraged.
I don’t think this is knowledge the schools will sit on given the delay. I thought they said they would be contacting students directly rather than going through schools due to the problems last year.
@FutureNurse2018 If they are waiting, I hope they are announcing at graduation. My family is coming across the country to watch and that would be awesome.
@FamilyCounciling, I sent an email back asking what the delay was. Hopefully they will respond. From what it seemed like when I got my first email about it being mid- April. I don’t think they started reviewing when they were supposed to and I think as of the beginning of April they were still reviewing. From what I got out of the email, they didn’t start reviewing until March which on the FAQ part of the website it says December- February.
I did not get any email about mid May, may be I am already disqualified for not emailing them when the given deadline pass. Do we have any one here who have never email them about the delay who got the email about mid May.
@Georgemk, I just got a reply to an email I sent two weeks ago.
@georgemk It wasn’t a mass email, we had all emailed them asking and got “mid-may” as a reponse
at this rate, i’m going to grab one of the committee people by the tie and say, where’s my money, punk. just joking. i’m taking this disappointment as well as the ending to mass effect 3.
i can’t wait until may. may is going to kill me.
also @jrf410 i was just poking fun at the selection process and career candidates that seem to embody the fabled scholarship recipient character that whole generations of high school counselors have tried pushing (sometimes this person has an image and you know it’s unrealistic because dentistry doesn’t reach the poor like c’mon! look at our teeth!)
in my mind, i have this individual that sprints across the sahara to deliver gluten-free cookies to blind orphans while suffering a rare and physically debilitating disease. they’re like collegiate cinderellas.
i googled previous winners and when i read one of them had had a rare congenital disorder i thought, “why can’t i have just one heinous and incurable medical thing to boast of? i’m unfortunately the healthiest person on earth.”
scholarships get people thinking all strangely and competitively. in my college, there is this group of wizards that sleep at the library and learn things and seek new opportunities that will impress on a resume. and i am both envious of their ambition, and bitterly judgmental of their self-interest.
on my scholarship application i wrote this long and sentimental essay about wanting to connect old people with young people (please tell me i didn’t use the words ‘old people’) to exchange heritage and stuff. i basically made the human race seem like the sims. if i don’t win, it’s an injustice, clearly.
@optimisticky hahaha! dude I hope they give you the scholarship! XD
Thanks @Adorse26 and @ kpcosmic
I know how you feel @optimisticky. I emailed them a while ago around march and never heard back. Maybe my email just got lost with everyone else emailing around that time to figure out what was taking so long. I hope that doesn’t mean I am eliminated.
@FamilyCounciling I don’t think so, the people that answer the emails aren’t the same people who review applications
I thought results came out when I saw I had over 20 notifications on this thread. Sigh.
They are stating the delay was because of the week extension to get the application in which makes no sense. How do you get a two month delay from a week extension?
@adorse26 That makes no sense. I dont understand. I mean maybe I see there being a week or two, but not two months
@FamilyCounciling, I was thinking the same thing. If they only received 2,600 applications instead of the 3,500 expected, it should have also helped the process. I think there is something they aren’t telling us. It also seemed like they didn’t want to admit to the delay because in the email I received the sentence about the delay almost seems hidden.
