@Dianelilith - That sucks! I was really hoping you’d have found out tonight too! Maybe that means they have something extra special in store for you :)

Glad to see I’m not the only one going crazy. Congrats to the winners that have already been announced. I just wanna hear something I think I’ve checked my emails like 5 million times in the past few days

@xCregx - I hear ya! I’ve been checking my emails incessantly for a “Come to my office” email from my school’s JKC rep. I am avoiding going to her office or emailing her on my own just because I don’t want to ruin a surprise if she’s planning one…but i also don’t want to hear that she doesn’t know anything…because i’ll freak out even more. At least at the moment i can try to convince myself that I might have been selected, and she might already know and be trying to hide it for a while…

If i don’t hear anything by tomorrow afternoon though, i’ll probably really freak out.

How are the rest of you coping?

@ciresu Poorly.

Hey scholars,

First congrats to those who won the scholarship. My advisor called JCK today, and they told her notifications will go out by the end of April or early May. However, we all know that someone just got it?!! I am sooooo nervous

I am hoping, everyday, once I go to school my advisor will have good news! I feel like the child in A Christmas Story fantasizing about the Red Ryder B.B. Gun. Oh, what it would be like to have it.

Hopes for Good News

@Aheng90, Hmm that’s interesting. On their official fb page they said this week we will know. So which one is it, I wonder.

Hi everyone! I am SO happy I found this thread I have been absolutely dying of nervousness, and I’m glad to know that I’m not the only one! I saw on the facebook page that notifications will be out by the end of this week and I’m freaking out since tomorrow is Thursday already. I am not only interested in hearing about what you all hear in regards to the notifications, but also about each of you individually. I’m very curious about the backgrounds and future goals/areas of interest of my fellow nominees, so please share! I am from Philadelphia (CCP) and am studying Art and Design. My goal is to transfer to RISD, and I am interested in illustration, painting, art history/citicism/theory, and design. Just out of curiosity, are there any other artists on here?

Good luck to everyone :)

Hey Greenteatime,

I like your idea. I’m majoring in petroleum engineering. I plan to transfer to UT- Austin to get my bachelor’s in engineering, then I will go for master’s in business at SMU in Dallas, Texas. Humbly, I have been involved and held positions with student government association, phi theta kappa. I am the student body representing in Dallas district on foundation board meetings. Also, I have received several scholarships.

Sorry I am not an arts major, but nice to meet you :)

Hi Greenteatime, welcome to the thread of nerves! lol.

I’m a Psychology major, planning to specialize in cognitive behavioral psychology and i would like to focus on working with victims of domestic violence and other social violence, as well as treating people with post-traumatic stress disorder. My husband and i are both in school together (he’s a writer), and we’re both planning to transfer to Regis University in the fall.

So far it sounds like we’ve got a pretty diverse group here! :)

Nice to meet you too! Congratulations on your accomplishments thus far! That’s very cool.

Oh, and in regards to my earlier post, i ended up bumping into my JKC rep this afternoon and she told me she hasn’t heard anything. Then she told me she needs to me come by her office in the next day or two to help finish planning an event my club is sponsoring for next week. So, now of course i don’t know whether or not to believe that she doesn’t know, or to be suspicious that she might be planning something. lol.

Oh, that’s interesting. @ciresu

@Ciresu that’s a good sign indeed :)

Hey guys! I’ve been reading all your posts and I felt like I finally needed to join in. I am one of two applicants from my community college in Upstate NY. I have been anxiously waiting to hear something and keep checking with my JKC rep, who keeps saying that she doesn’t know anything. However, today, while randomly on Facebook, at the end of the day my school posted that they awarded the other nominee with the JKC. So, one part of me is telling myself that I definitely am not getting this award, and the other part of me feels like if it is going to happen they will let me know tomorrow. I know from earlier posts that there were two winners from the same school. What do you guys think of this? Also, the other nominee is a current student still attending classes. On the other hand, I have already graduated and I am transferring to Belmont University for the upcoming fall 2013 semester as a Songwriting major. On the JKC website, my application still says ‘Under Committee Review.’ Does everyone’s stil say that?

@FMN617 I believe that the everybody’s status will be “Under Committee Review” forever. There is still a good chance that your school informs each winner seperately, so dont lose your hope until you know exactly what your fate is :).

@FMN617 - Oh jeez! That is all sorts of extra nerve wracking for you!
I’d encourage you to hold out hope until you get an official yes or no. It’s odd that they would post about the other person and not you, but if you’ve been staying in touch with your JKC rep then i would think they would have been kind enough to tell you that you didn’t get it before they posted on Facebook. So it certainly seems like they might just be holding out on telling you since you’ve already graduated and aren’t around to surprise or something.

I know from last years thread that the schools usually only get notified of the people who are selected, then those who are not usually get an email a week or two later from the foundation. But since your school had two nominees I would think your rep would know about both of your statuses at the same time…but who knows. I also saw on last years thread where there were two nominees from the same school who were close friends, one of them was selected and the other wasn’t, so the school was very considerate and told them both privately and quietly so as not to make the student who didn’t get it feel bad.

My fingers are crossed for you, I hope that you get great news tomorrow!!

Just found this through a google search - [Anita Schwab Awarded Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship - YouTube](<a href=“Anita Schwab Awarded Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship - YouTube”>Anita Schwab Awarded Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship - YouTube)

and from the same school today - <a href=“Michael Gandy Awarded Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship - YouTube”>Michael Gandy Awarded Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship - YouTube;

That’s two more people who have been notified they were selected…

@Ciresu Oh gosh, and I just found another one, same school [Michael Grady Awarded Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship - YouTube](<a href=“Michael Gandy Awarded Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship - YouTube”>Michael Gandy Awarded Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship - YouTube)

P/S: You were faster than me :D. Anyway, we already have at least 4 winners

5 actually, 2 from CraigAV’s school (BCC), at least 1 from FMN617’s school, and then the 2 from the videos we just found!

Granted, they’ve selected 73 people this year so that still leaves a lot of people to find out…but it doesn’t make me freak out any less…quite the contrary! lol
