Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship- 2013

@TeachmeChelle - It’s funny you should say that, my husband asked last night if there was any common theme to those who’ve already been notified, like if their names were in alphabetical order, or the schools were. So far it doesn’t look like it, the last names of the students start with S, G, V, etc, (mine starts with S). There have been winners announced from Bristol Community College, and Orange Coast College, so nothing really alphabetical there (i’m at ACC, lol).

As difficult as it is, i don’t think we’ll know…until we know. From what my schools JKC rep said yesterday, she’ll hear if i am selected…but won’t receive a “thanks for participating” letter until July, on last years thread anyone who wasn’t selected received an email a few weeks after the notifications of those who were selected went out.

I’m glad you’d staying positive though! It was really nice to hear from skribe today about their experience, and that just because we don’t hear today, tomorrow, or even next week…not to get discouraged!

@mihir1612 - CONGRATS!!! That is awesome and i’m so so happy for you!! When you’ve had some time to take it all in we’d all love to hear more about you, how they surprised you, etc!

It has been confirmed that notifications WILL GO OUT ON TOMORROW, FRIDAY!!! Good luck to all of us

Here’s another recipient who I’m not sure is on this thread - [DMACC student wins prestigious scholarship](DMACC student wins prestigious scholarship - Radio Iowa)

Let me be the first to report, although I have not received the dreaded email, I was told that I did not get it.

Best of luck to all you in your studies and endeavors, and if you do not get this, do not let it get in your way… it is only one path of many.

To the winners… CONGRATS!!! =) and the world, we, are certainly lucky to have you!

God Speed you all…

@Ciresu, this is a great news. Looks like they notify each school separately at different times as well.

@BlueJacket - I’m so sorry to hear that! On the bright side I am really glad to know that not receiving it will not even slow you down from all of the wonderful things you are working to achieve! Best of luck and God speed to you as well :)

@BlueJacket, I am so sorry to learn that you did not get it. I am sure God has something better in the future for you. I am wondering how did you know that you were not selected?

@aheng90 - When you say it’s been confirmed all notifications will go out by tomorrow…confirmed by who and when? That is super crazy and nerve wracking! lol.

I guess it still doesn’t mean some of those schools won’t wait to surprise their students until a few weeks from now at the commencement ceremonies or something

@Ciresu- I’ve messaged the JCK FB page, and that was their response. I am getting very nervous as I just had a little chat with the JCK rep at my school and she is just as nervous!!! I do not think she will hide it for long if I got it. But, is it possible the notification goes to the President of the school directly?

Good to know, and thank you. Noone from my school has ever won this award or been nominated (I don’t think).

Bluejackets I AM SOOOOO SORRYYY … please keep ur spirits high …

To the winners YAAYYYYYY CHEERR CHHEEERRRR

to me : waitinnngggg ughhhh! !!

Has anyone received this e-mail from Ms. Dana E. O’Neill (Program Manager)? I did not receive this e-mail. (my friend did). It seems that those who did are being considered further than other applicants. Any thoughts?

"In your application, you indicated that you have applied to one or more undergraduate institutions to complete your bachelor’s degree. Please respond to this email and tell us if you have received acceptance to any of your schools yet. If you have received acceptances, please indicate your top choice.

This scholarship is for students who will transfer and begin studies at the four-year institution in fall 2013. If you have already enrolled at the four-year institution, then unfortunately, you are not eligible for this scholarship. Please confirm that you will transfer and begin at the four-year institution in fall 2013 and have not yet begun taking classes at the four-year institution.

Finally, if you were enrolled at the community college in fall 2012, we require a copy of your fall 2012 transcripts. You may email a copy of an unofficial transcript or of a screen shot of your transcript. If you are selected to receive the scholarship, we will require an official transcript."

@Joaquin - sounds like whoever received that has a REALLY good chance that they were selected! =)

Yes more than one recipient this year and last, received that email =)

I am curious though, if you did not receive it, where it came from?

Didn’t get anything like that no… but don’t worry maybe they are just in need of missing information … you should be positive since you sent them a complete application and them sending you an email like this would just not be necessary in your case…

It’s all gooooddddd  I d rather them tell ne I didn’t get it than this waiting that I m tortured by hahha

Hi, Blue Jacket. I did not receive this e-mail, but a colleague of mine did.

I was just trying to confirm my train of thought, which is that those who did not receive this e-mail might not have gotten the scholarship.

So far, an email like that is a good indicator. =) One person on this board got that email and is one of the recipients. Usually a February email lining up with panel review dates.

Of course nothing is concrete…

Great, thank you for the information. Did you also receive the e-mail?

Bluejacket, did your school’s rep tell you you didn’t get it? How would they know though?

My school makes sure that the apps are complete before they go out. We have a very good track record with JKC. (A winner every year for the last 7 years.) None of our winners have received an email to confirm information. Also, my JKC rep read me an email from JKC that they will not contact unless you are missing information from your application.

SOOOO, receiving that email doesn’t say anything.
