@SJallDay Agreed! Applying is almost always better than not applying.

Still no response… should I email them again (they haven’t responded to my email) or just wait?

If you’ve e-mailed them once, I would suggest waiting a couple more days. I’m planning to e-mail them again on Wednesday.

Rejected oh well! Congrats to the 12 who got in!

About to email them again… wish me luck!

I also got rejected. Just so everyone knows, they said the acceptance rate was only 4% this year due to the number of applicants. Best of luck to anyone still waiting!

Rejected.

Also rejected.

I emailed them today; I didn’t receive a response yet. I’ll probably get a response (and rejection) tomorrow.

There are always people from my school getting into SIMR, City of Hope, and NIH SIP, which are just as selective as JAX claims it is (~4%). However, these people never get into JAX. I just want to share what I found out about JAX and it is totally up to you guys whether to apply or not. The question would be whether the time and effort you put into your JAX application are worth it.

Moreover, say, I’m totally wrong and JAX does take in “regular students”, don’t you guys think it’s crazy that they reject you without even notifying you? As far as I know, it is the only application process that you need to ask for your admission status, although they say “students will be notified in late-march”. All being said, good luck to those of you who will apply again in the future.

Well, they didn’t reply to my email today. I’m wouldn’t doubt it if they stopped checking the summerstudents email because they have their participants (and don’t care about any of the rest of the applicants).

Leaving this here to straighten the record for posterity. Yes it is a very selective program but yes they do take “regular” kids. A LOT of the other interns would qualify as “regular” i.e. no connection to special Maine pipeline schools. i know i have no such connection. I will say that there are a lot more college kids than HS, and probably equal numbers of applicants from both, so you are definitely going against some tough odds as a high schooler. But it’s a great program and I’ve been having a great summer, so if you are considering it definitely apply. aight peace
