January 2010 - Math Level 2

anyone remember the problem for the physics question?? i skipped 6 and probably got 1-2 wrong…

Can anybody confirm whether it was 180/n^k or n^k/180?

Jman. It’s hard to say because it said 180 divides n^k. I took it as n^k/180 and chose 30.

jman, i picked a too.

[Divides – from Wolfram MathWorld](Divides -- from Wolfram MathWorld) ??

So what score would 3 blank 2 wrong be?

That link is saying both n^k/180 and 180/n^k. It’s very ambiguous
but now that I think of the actual question, it seems like the Math II was being unfair in trying to quiz takers on nuances like wording.

Jman, that would almost definitely be an 800

@guilded

Think we should contact collegeboard about that? It could go either way, so it has multiple answers. Both 6 and 30 would be correct then

Anyone else want to chime in on that one?

anyone else have questions about the test?

i’m personally not sure about what the physics question was and the answer
for the 2 similar triangles (one inside the other)… can anyone confirm that i suck and
didnt get an 800?

jman, to be honest, I’m too lazy to go to lengths to contact collegeboard. Collegeboard doesn’t make the SATs also, I believe.
If a lot of people get it wrong, then the curve will just be easier. I’d rather bank on that

@jman I don’t think it’s 6 because if it were 180/n^k, many of the choices would have worked, including 9 and 30.

However for the n^k/180 action, only 30 would have worked. I did what you did at first too, but then I realized that it wouldn’t work if multiple choices could have been correct. Also, I’m not sure, but I think the wording said “divided by” 180 which would mean n^k/180.

it did not say “divided by.”

Oh, nevermind then.

how would 9 and 30 have worked?

Let’s say I skipped three questions and missed about seven questions. Am I within the range for a 750?

180/30^1 = 6
180/9^1 = 20

Unless k could not equal 1.
I’m not sure?
I took the test like 8 hours ago lol.

^the answer to that question was 30

I’m just going to say that the question about 180 and n^k was worded poorer than the Second Amendment. Fin.
