JMU Fall 2013 Transfer

I thought I would start a thread for everyone trying to transfer to JMU in the fall. Post stats, decisions, chances, and what not!

I'm currently a sophomore at an in-state community college. I will have around 55 credits.

I have an 3.8 GPA.

High school 3.00 gpa (slacked off).

Did not send my SAT as i didn't take them because I would rather go to community college then transfer to a good university then get into a below par one from high school.

I have applied to VCU and V-Tech. I'm pretty much accepted to tech. They had an on-site admission thing at my community college. He said I need to send mid-semester grades and as long as they are not bad I'm in. I meet with a VCU transfer admissions people. They said I was pretty much in, but they can't promise anything.

Just got done visiting the campus, I loved it. I confermed that this is the school I want to go to.

Can someone chance me I posted most stats up above.

I’m currently a freshman at another VA university, 4.1 GPA in HS and 3.9 GPA first semester.

really hope i get into JMU!

i heard that tech had a symbol that popped up early on their applications that signals that they got in before they send the acceptances, does anyone know if jmu has anything like this?

I heard about tech putting on a hokie bird on it. I don’t think Jmu does anything like that, but I could be wrong.

I am a freshman at a private college in PA with a 3.25 gpa and after this semester will have 32 credits with all of the core classes that they require. In high school I had a 2.9, didn’t do to we’ll senior year. But had am average SAT score. I applied as a transfer for the fall 2013 semester. What do you think my odds are. I know the minimum gpa is a 3.0 and I’m above that

I’m technically a junior now, with 2 full years of college completed at Radford University, Virginia Western CC, NVCC, and Lord Fairfax CC. I have 80 credits to date with a 3.6 cumulative gpa, honors at Radford. I’m hoping to get in for fall 2013, what do you guys think my chances are?

I might also add, I got accepted to George Mason and Old dominion also, if that helps.

I got accepted last Tuesday as a transfer (into Summer Session.) I’m a second semester Sophomore at 4 year institution. I had around a 3.0 my freshmen year, but got a 4.0 this past semester. I really wasn’t expecting to get in, so be optimistic guys. Best of luck!

I’m currently a Freshman at VCU trying to transfer in the fall. I will have 32 credits with a 3.6 for last semester and probably about the same for this semester. My high school GPA was a 3.6 with a great athletic record and I got a 1660 on my SAT. I’ve had so many mixed answers to what my chances are of getting in but I am very hopeful!

I’d say everyone in here has a good to great chance at getting in.

Jmu 2015 what classes have you taken, major, and how many credits do you have? As most people in here are around this 3.5 mark it should give everyone a good estimator on their chances.

Also Alex 2012 I just got accepted to VCU. Do you not like it? Can you give me some insight on the school?

I am waiting to hear back also. My back up plan its to go to BRCC and earn an AA in their guaranteed admissions track for JMU. Then apply again if necessary.

Hey guys so I just went into MyMadison and to the Applicant Center (where they will post decisions…I check it periodically) and where it says test scores and your JMU I got a new link for “preliminary financial aid” even though I didn’t apply for any, I’m just wondering if everyone got this link or if it means I’ve been accepted? I saw in previous threads from last year that a girl got an email about her financial aid before her acceptance letter but in the email about the financial aid it said “congratulations on your acceptance”

does anyone else have/not have this new link?

I do, I have the same link you have described. I’m also a transfer from VCU with 48 credit hours and currently 12 with a GPA of 3.36.

I just tried to pay my deposit and it apparently recognized my 10 digit student number and allowed me to proceed and pay.

Bullahboy so do you think that link means that we’re accepted??!

Wow! I have the link also! I just checked from my phone. But the link after the description doesn’t do anything after i click to view my letter.
Why would you not fill out a fafsa smoothswim?

I’m assuming it means we’ve been accepted try doing the deposit thing I mentioned in my earlier post and if it recognizes your # it most likely means we have been admitted!

Nbsublime- My parents told me not to worry about financial aid.

Bullahboy- I’m still waiting to hear back from other schools but I will try it!

Sorry to burst your bubble guys, but I’ve had that link since I had access to MyMadison. I think it’s just so that you can submit your fafsa early for convenience so you’re good to go and meet the fin aid deadlines once you are accepted. They said admissions decisions will be in that little box by admission status and apparently we get a post card too. I’m betting since freshmen heard so early (last week) we should probably hear in the next two weeks, it would make sense.

How do you explain the fact that I was able to put my student # and being able to pay and allowed by the system to recognize my # and let me pay my enrollment deposit?? I have to be in the system and admitted to be able to do that right??

I never had that link previously. I’m still going to think positively.
