Joining a frat/EC choices - impact on transfering?

Hey everyone!

I'm currently at UCLA, and I want to transfer to another school with the intent of majoring in economics. We recently had our activities fair, and now I'm stressed out about which clubs I should join. I would love to achieve a high GPA, so I know that that will be where the majority of my time will be dedicated, but is it worth it to also spend a lot of energy on clubs? How many clubs should I join, and which ones? Let me give you guys a few examples of the ones I'm considering:

Campus-wide newspaper: big organization, heavy workload.
Business fraternity
Undergraduate business society: large, mainly "show up to meetings and be one of a thousand members" club
Arts club

Of these ones, which would you recommend? I'm worried that the heavier workload of the first EC example will impact my grade, yet will look good on an application. The fraternity I'm also worried about because I'm not sure how fraternities work in transfering. The large
thousand members" club means less workload for an EC, but it's also less of an opportunity to showcase my leadership skills. The arts club would be a representative of an EC that doesn't mesh with my major, but shows my diversity and interest in other subjects.

If you were in this situation, which ECs would you take - and why?
Thanks in advance for answers!

Transfer students are mostly evaluated on their GPA and courses taken. I wouldn’t spend a lot of time on them.

I agree with eclark6. My counselor told me it’s more about their GPA and courses. Frats are very time consuming :frowning: I pledged in the spring quarter last year and it had a huge impact on my GPA which is not good because I want to transfer out of my current university. If you want to join something, join a club beneficial to your major and is not time consuming. At least afterwards, you would be able to put down one club you are involved in.
