June 08 World History

What did you guys put for the question....
Which religion was the least worried about spreading their religion?
Choices were: Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Mormonism

i put Buddhism cus i remember gautama the buddha wasnt interested in spreading relgion.

Didn't Buddhist monks enter China after the Han's fall and spread alot of their religion there?

I said Mormonism.

mormons? never even learned about them.

I'm pretty sure that answer was Hinduism. Mormonism, Buddhism, Islam, and Christianity all had missionaries.

And I'm surprised that Mormonism was on the test. I associate Mormonism with Bringham Young, Ken Jennings, Utah, no alcohol, missionaries, and polygamy. I remember learning about Mormonism in middle school US history, but never as part of a world history course.

Yeah, it was definitely Hinduism.

Well the United States and Utah are in the 'world,' so it is fair game.

i am pretty sure the question was about 'least famous for missionary activity'. in that case it would be islam not buddhism.
and yeah i am pretty sure the answer was carribbean.
what did people get for the africa iron one?

People moved north for the African one.

i am pretty sure the question was about 'least famous for missionary activity'. in that case it would be islam not buddhism.

LOL dude the NEXT question talked about Sufi MUSLIM missionaries.

i believe that the industrial revolution one was a middle class of women who were confined to domestic tasks was developed

didn't the bantus migrate southward? (for the iron one) Also, there was another bantu question... did they spread linguistic/agricultural practice northward/southward? (i hope that this made sense)

for the 2000 european control one, was central america a choice? i really hope that i put the caribbeans...

yea, hinduism

Sufi question: sufis assimilated into the cultures of the people they tried to convert. was that the answer?

yeah there were a couple in a row that related to islam.

I remember something about iron or something and that was independently. Or maybe that was agricultural techniques. I don't really remember.

2000 control is definitely Caribbeans. I loved how my teacher told me that the LAST day of school 2 days ago when she was talking about a Nat Geo article.

I think Bantu's moved south.

Sufi question: sufis assimilated into the cultures of the people they tried to convert. was that the answer?

yup

I thought Sufis were effective Muslim missionaries because they stressed a personal relationship with Allah?

Whereas the Jesuits adopted some aspects of the people they tried to convert (such as the Chinese, as shown in that picture).

I thought Sufis were effective Muslim missionaries because they stressed a personal relationship with Allah?

Perhaps but I specifically remember from my AP World class that Sufis were successful in southern India because they mixed Hindu culture/ideals with Islam.

What do you guys think the curve will be for this one?
The official SAT lets us to lose 19 points for a 800.

Just in a general note, did anybody else think that this test focused A LOT on Africa, India, and Japan (especially in the beginning) ? Those are my weakest parts and they didn't mention anything about Europe until later on...

I think the Sufism one was because it integrated with other cultures, etc.

The missionary one was Islam, I'm pretty sure.

For the Industrial/women one, I put middle class women worked in factories more...because didn't the nuclear family units get closer because kids worked in horrible conditions and that's why England passed the Factory Acts, etc?

What was the one about which of the following did the Persian Empire not have ? It was like roads, divided territories, postal system, etc etc...

And the one where the quote talked about bodvistas (?) and was like which christianity aspect most resembled? There were like priests, saints, popes, etc etc.

And which region was still dominated by European people in 2000? I was so confused..the only thing i could think of was South Africa didn't really get "equality until the late 1990's"

Lol, and another one: Japan's imperial system quote with the empress and which influences were present? Confuciansim, Bushido, Taoism, Shinto, etc

I remember the Persian Empire question, but I don't remember the answer choices.

And for the bovistas (if that is how you spell it) question, I put saints.

And those chronological order ones were horrible: About Songhay, Ghana, Mali and 4th Crusade, Justinian, fall of Constant. .. I had NO idea.

What was the one about Gandhi's spinning wheel? and the Meji Restoration one? and Peter the Great's opposing country? Was that Sweden and someplace else? and what started the Gulf War? Iraq invading Kuwait? and was there a Bismarck quote related to "blood, tears, etc"? and what was the one about Jewish Zionism? Was that irredentalism or nationalism? and the trading in Africa was Gold and Salt? and Camels increased communication through the Sahara? and why weren't the Ottoman reforms working? there was also one about the English Channel and a British quote on gaining dominance/imperialism.

Ok, I'll just stop rambling now ;)
