Just a quick clarification...

It's always amusing to me when people see the following:

SAT Range (Mid 50%) for class of 2010

SAT Critical Reading 610–720
SAT Math 650–760
SAT SAT Writing 610–720

and assume that this equates to the range SAT being 1260-1480. Those applicants who scored a 760 on the Math did not necessarily (and probably did not) score 720 on the Reading. Thus it is inaccurate to base the SAT range for Michigan (or any other school, for that matter) on these numbers. As proof, we will look at the SAT total for the class of 2010, which UMich states on their website as 1900–2160 {This does not equal 720+760+720, which equals 2200, nor does the bottom of the above ranges equate to 1900 (610+650+610= 1870).

Therefore, do not despair UMich applicants if you have a 1440 and believe you are below the top echelon of the range (you are probably right at it, since a 1480 is not it). And UMich students don't brag about the selectivity of your school based on that data alone. The school's worth is better demonstrated in other ways.
