I applied October 2 and haven't heard anything, ive sent all my documents, application and everything else. I have 4.4 GPA and in top 27% of my class, should i just cut my losses and assume that I am not going to be accepted or does it usually take this long to be accepted because of A&M's popularity with engineering?

You most likely wont be accepted

I think we have a ■■■■■ here. ^

Objectively speaking, though he isn’t far off. I can’t say what a decision (or lack thereof) at this point in the year means for someone, but I can say that given the law in the state of Texas that students in the top 10% of their class at a Texas high school are automatically admitted, slots are very competitive and a lot of people in the OPs situation unfortunately get turned away.

He/she could have a perfect SAT/ACT and be in the 11th percentile of his high school class and miss out due to simply a lack of available slots.

^boneh3ad,

That isn’t quite true, with 11th percentile, a 1300+ on SAT (M+V) & a minimum of 600 in each M & V one is an academic admit at A&M. As long as one is in the top 25% a good SAT will get you in.

As far as those with perfect scores on the SAT go, they will probably also have decent PSAT scores and be National Merit Finalists. If so, they would also be auto admits regardless of class rank.

So, it isn’t quite that dire.

I scored a 1750 on my SAT and met the requirements for each subject in them, but I think it probably is because all of the slots are full. I talked to some of my friends who were accepted last year, and some didn’t hear back till 5 months after they applied so either I’m in the same situation and its still processing or I just didn’t get accepted but I’ll be optimistic and thank you for the help.

If anything can’t you just go to CC for two years and transfer in? Your stats indicate you would excel at a CC.

LittleJay if you have an SAT (M+V) of +1300, then you have a decent shot at getting in, especially if your SAT math score is 670+. However, you are a review candidate because your class rank is outside top 25%. So, expect an answer by February.

Thank you so much for all the feedback, and thank you perazziman for clearing up some of my confusion.
