I just got back from New York City and all I have to say is wow!!! It looks soo gorgeous at night....the lights...wow. And we came just before some kind of street market.....it went for several blocks. I have seriously never seen anything like it. But there are soo many people, and from all over the world. You could hear all these different languages being spoken all the time. I live in a D.C. suburb, and it is nothing like New York. Although I do think there is a LOT of pollution from smoking and cars and stuff. And Central Park is a bit overrated. But there is definitally nothing like NYC :D!!!

Yeah, I love NYC. Going there soon to check out some colleges.

Oh, yeah. And shop. :)

Oh the stores are good. I also liked buying clothes from the outside vendors too. New York has a great fashion sense. Everyone just seemed soo coordinated and accessorized lol.

I can't stand NYC. Been there a lot of times, but I just don't like huge cities.

Yeah, NYC is huge. While I was there, I was wondering how anybody could live there. The traffic, the lines (at stores, shops, and things)....I mean, its great to visit....but to live. I could never live there.

Hey Diana! I wish I could go to new york..and walk to all these stores and shop lol! I bet there is an awesome night life!

I don't think I'd enjoy living there (temporarily, pernament, college) but it's fun to visit somewhere huge, that dwarfs most cities.

Diana I feel you about all the waiting...and I am very short on patience lol :p

Boston is better.:)

It's got the best sports teams and it's also an excellent college town.

I'd completely love living in new york, at least for a little while. I guess I'm just drawn to the energy... Plus, you never need to get in a car! How amazing is that? (I think cars are the worst idea since New Coke.)

I've always wanted to live in boston. sighs

you have to be born here to handle it, otherwise it drives you crazy. summers are the worst bc its so hot and overcrowded from all the tourists. the best thing to do when youre bored is go to madison around midtown and people dodge. lol. walk down the street really fast and try not to walk into anyone. ;)

OMG!!! It was soo hot this weekend. I was burning up lol. And that market thing where there was all this cooking going on did not help at all!!!

But that whole not needing a car thing is awesome. You could walk almost anywhere. But there was soo much to see also, so the walking didn't feel that bad....I mean, it felt like you were actually going somewhere.

You probably do have to be born there to handle it. I don't know if it was just me (and my dad too) but after every meal there, and we would walk around and look for stuff to see. I would get bad stomach aches :(

where was the street fair?
i do sooo much walking here. like every night after a party (mostly after bad ones) ill generally just walk home and think about stuff. now mind you most of these parties are way west and midtown, and i live rather east and uptown. i have calfs like no other. ;)

It was around Manhatten (sp?) I think. It was right in front of our hotel on Saturaday.

But New York is soo pretty at night.....its insane!!!

like i love la (los angeles, not the state) and all, but nyc rocks so much. i have the craziest story about nyc from the beginning of this summer which involves someone giving me the wrong passport en route to israel and thus having to stay in nyc for a few days at my cousin's and staying up for two days strait and yankee games and because my cousin is so awesome getting me into bars (without a fake id because my cousin knows everyone in nyc. everyone. we skipped lines everywhere) and clubs and the best few days ever before israel, where i currently am and have been for the last two (ridiculously awesome) months.

what is the point of this thread?

She made it to discuss her trip. You must have been interested if you clicked the thread.

Diana, so were you just visiting casually or there for an event? How I long to be in NYC again...

Tourists rarely understand how one could live in NYC because they usually only frequent the areas overflowing with other tourists. For example, Midtown (ie Times Sq, the Theater District, Rockefeller Center, St. Pat's, Madison Sq Garden, Grand Central, Empire State Building etc.) is only tolerated by New Yorkers when they have to work there, dodging fanny-packed midwesterners along the way.

I guarantee that if you hung out with a native for a few days, you would be ready to move into the city...

<<diana i="" feel="" you="" about="" all="" the="" waiting...and="" am="" very="" short="" on="" patience="" lol="">></diana>

Sounds like you should move to the city! Seriously, this is the fastest-paced city on the planet. I don't understand what you guys are complaining about when you refer to long waits.

There are a lot of streetfairs in the summer. A couple every weekend. They're fun...I love kettle corn :)
