I just got my SAT II scores back. I don't know if they're gonna hurt my chances for Cornell. I probably can't get in anyway. I am applying to the college of arts and sciences. i put down biochemistry as my major.

GPA: 3.38 UW, it's crap, school doesn't weight, rank is like just above 50th percentile
7 AP's 9 honors

SAT I: 1390 (710m/680v)
SAT II: 700 chem, 680 mathiic, 630 writing.
I am just taking AP chem now, so i don't know if they're gonna give me a break on the sat ii chem score.

EC's:
4 years varsity tennis
3 years tutoring
2 years chess club
co-founded the ping-pong club
physics club
summer community service
that's about all.

I think my essays are okay, but not great. I don't think i have a very good chance. So what does everyone think?

I think it's going to be tough for you. Not impossible but as noted your GPA is low (although your weighted GPA will be decent), SAT I score is okay, and your SAT II scores may be slightly below average.

I already posted my stats elsewhere, believe...applying to hotel school.

GPA: 3.825
SATs: 660V 710M | 620W 660IIC 680IC 630USH
Rank: 28/434 ~6%
8 AP courses, scores of 4 on language/comp and US history
EC's: Lots and lots of music, leadership in marching band

I have work experience in a hotel, my dad owns and operates a small hotel, I heard that it helps some with the admissions process at the hotel school.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do to get in?

I wasn't born in america and i'm gonna be the first one in my family to go to college. oh yeah, i'm asian. don't know if it'll make a difference

Being asian can work against you but um...if you are an international applicant..it can be even tougher...the first generation to go to college is a plus tho..GPA can be a big factor in your case so you should somehow work on that i think...you have a good SAT I score...good luck~!!

you cant only use your grades as a marker for whether or not you'll be accepted... you need to show strengths in both inside and outside the classroom. if you have a high sat, but have nothing else outside of school, you may be in trouble.

To the first guy..Cornell is much bigger on gradesthan SATS..u prob have very little chance of getting in..prob impossible ifr your not 10% and applying RD
