Hey guys, I just got off of the waitlist today. I have 5 days to respond whether or not I want to accept their offer. I know that the competition in boarding school is extremely high, and the most important thing to me is going to a good college. I know going to boarding school may hurt my chances (especially going in as a 10th grader), and I just wanted to know if you guys have any advice. I do love the boarding school that I was just accepted by (the environment, campus, sports, academics, peers), but that also means leaving all of my friends, clubs, positions, sports that I’ve already started here at home (some I’m really invested in).
Congratulations!
Go back in time and go through all the reasons why you applied in the first place. Are those reasons still important?
Do yourself a favor and take college admissions out of the equation because that’s not really relevant and you’re projecting too far ahead.
Now: Do you like where you are ( which sounds great ) or do you want to go on an adventure? That’s the decision you need to make. It’s really that simple .
If it seems like a great opportunity, grab it and don’t look back. You’re in for a great adventure, an odyssey.
You will get in to a good college from whichever HS you attend. Every student at Exeter attends a good college – as does every student at every other BS. Heed @PhotographerMom, and take this concern off the table.
you applied to bs for a reason. the golden ticket is now in your possession. go!
