kelley degree requirement???

it says on the site thtat 62/124 cr. must be from courses outside bus. and econ but 68 cr. worth of courses are business courses that all kelley students must take (assuming direct admit), how is it possible to get 59 cr. outside bus and econ if u have 59 cr. all in icore pre req, icore, and the req. jr,/sr. courses plus you have the courses req. by the major????I know 27 are from gen ed and only 9 cr. (3 courses) from icore prereq. are not bus/econ but it leaves only 36cr.?

They count most classes before I-Core with the 62 hours, even ones most people would consider business. Classes like Corporate Social Strategy (BUS-G 202), Bus. Presentations (BUS-X104), The Business computer classes (K201, X201), and the other gen eds you said before. It seems like it what they mean by “Business”, are classes where you literally learn business principles, like Basic Accounting (A100), I-Core, or Major-specific classes.

i see, thats weird they do that

Here are the I-Core prerequisites that also count toward the general education requirement. These total to 28 credit hours. So, these 28 plus the 27 credit hour distribution option will give you 55, thus leaving only seven more hours to complete the 62 credit hour general education requirement. Testing out of the first year of a foreign language would give you four to six (maybe more depending on the language) general education credits.

Even though they are offered by Kelley, some Kelley classes count for general education because they are related to general education. X104 and X204 are like communications classes; G202 is economics; L201 is law; X220 is like a career development class.

ENG-W 131 (3 cr.)
BUS-X 104 (3 cr.)
BUS-X 204 (3 cr.)
MATH-M 118 (3 cr.)
MATH-M 119 (3 cr.)
ECON-E 201 (3 cr.)
BUS-G 202 (2 cr.)
ECON-E 370 (3 cr.)
BUS-L 201 (3 cr.)
BUS-X 220 (2 cr.)

can the international dimension req. (the internatonal bus. classes such as emerging markets) also count as outside business?

I just know about the I-Core classes, after asking a telephone adviser at Kelley. Call (812) 855-0611, and ask for the telephone adviser who is on duty. They have official lists of what courses do what and can answer about any question in just a few minutes. My son tested into and took one fifth-semester Spanish class and got three hours for the class and ten hours for the first four semesters of Spanish, so that he satisfied the international dimension requirement with one class and does not need any more gen ed classes (other than the 27 credit hour core) as the thirteen hours of Spanish all applied to the gen ed requirement.

I do know that there are 27-hour distribution classes in the S&H or A&H areas that can double-count for satisfying the international dimension, which helps a lot if you are not taking a foreign language. The advisers have lists of these classes, which must be approved by Kelley and which change depending on the semester they are offered.
