Kelley Early Admit Letters to be mailed out this week

Hey all,

Called the admissions office and they said that they were mailing out Kelley EA letters this week, and to expect them either late in the week, or next week.

So, they wouldn't tell you if you were in or not?

How many students do they admit? How big will your class be?

No, they said that they were just mailing them out.

I was going back and forth between Sport Management and Business, the talked to an admissions officer who told me to do a dual major, and have Kelley EA as my major.

But when I called the admissions office today, they said it was still at Sport Management, so I had to send another e-mail to them (my 3rd), and tell them to consider me for Kelley EA (Business Major).

Geez, i'm just not having too much good luck with Indiana's Admissions, lol.

Son applied Business figuring he could always switch over to S.M. later or do dual if he gets into both. S.M. isn't a freshman-entry program so there's no need to declare Kinesiology right now. Better to take a stab at getting into Kelley first.

LOL, as i've said about 20 times to you GoBlueAlumMom - SAME HERE!

u should get yours real soon, i got my direct admit to kelley 2 weeks after i was accepted.

i did not apply EA to kelly but what would my chances have been? 3.1-3.2 GPA = very liberal school, 3.6ish weighted, 1310 SAT and 27 ACT (99 percentile math, 90 percentile reading), decent EC's and counselor Rec

Well, I called the admissions office, because I didn't get mine, and it said that my intended major was still at Sport Management, and that I wasn't being considered as Business early admit. So I hit them up with my 3rd e-mail request, and hoepfully they will transfer the necessary documents to give me an early admit admission letter soon.

guapocarlos - Admissions is based solely on statistic requirements. One of the requirements is a 3.5 or better unweighted GPA, meaning you wouldn't be able to get in.

im guessing thats unweighted too?

S called about the Kelley Direct Admit and was told that he didn't get a letter because his school doesn't rank. They told him to call Kelley. He did. They asked him if he had a 3.5 or better. He said that he did. They said, "OK. We'll send the letter."

Because his school doesn't rank? IU needs to amp up the sophistication of their admissions dept........sooner than later.

Geez--are they kidding? How are all the kids from non-ranking schools supposed to know to call Kelley when their website says it's based on rank OR GPA:

Direct Freshman Admission:
Get your Kelley career rolling the minute you step on campus by taking part in our direct admit program for exceptional students. If you meet the following criteria, you will automatically be offered direct admission to Kelley before entering IU:

-Already admitted to IU Bloomington and indicated business as your intended major
-SAT composite score of 1270 or ACT composite score of 29
-Top 10 percent of high school class or 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale

hazmat - how do you know so much about IU? Did you go there?

MomOfWildChild - Admissions is very screwy, i've had lots of trouble finding out about decisions, getting the right major and making sure that they have changed it, and finding about what I qualify for and what I don't. If I have to call again, i'm going to freak! But it looks like it, if I don't get a Kelley Early Admit letter in the mail in the next month.

Family member went there briefly and also I have numerous friends who are there now. I also read the IndyStar online to follow Formula1 and Pacers Basketball....where the current drama about IU president is unfolding.....dead but not buried.

Do tell about the IU President's drama--hadn't heard.

http://www.idsnews.com/news/story.php?id=33016&adid=campus

Maybe the problem with Wild Child and the Kelley criteria is that his school doesn' rank AND doesn't use a 4.0 scale. It was probably just all too much for them! (I am an Kelley alum....)

about the rank thing, im not sure, i got in ( recieved official letter twice, i gues they made mistake and even got official call stating i was accepted into direct admit) and i was top 15%, i had the sat I score as well as the gpa but i too thought rank would keep me out. LOL maybe i should email and make SURE i am in and its not a mistake heh

That's why it's a 3.5 OR top 10%.
