Kelley non-direct admit

Hi I'm a senior in high school trying to transfer into the Kelley school of business (non-direct admit). I'm hoping someone can give me some advice as to what courses i should take both my spring and fall semester. I made this mock schedule * indicates kelley weed course

Frosh Fall
1. Eng-w 131 Writing 3cr*
2. Gen Ed Humans and the Biological World 5cr
3. A100 intro to accounting concepts 1cr
4. Gen Ed (humanity/ folk-f 131) 3cr
5. bus-x 100 intro to business 3cr

Frosh spring
1. Math-m 119 intro to calc 3cr*
2. Bus-a 201 Finical Accounting 3cr*
3. Gen Ed (humanity/CMCL-C 190) 3cr
4. bus-x 104 business presentations 3cr*
5. Gen Ed (history) 3cr
Any suggestions? courses i should take instead? Also what are the easiest gen eds i can take? Easiest Kelley weed courses? I'm not lazy but I want to minimize risk with getting into Kelley.
Thanks for the help!

It’s a long way away, but don’t take A-201. Take K-201 instead. Rumor is though that they are nixing A-100 all together.

@hkem123 If that rumor does turn out to be true do u think it will be implemented before the class of 2016 starts at IU?
I am not a direct admit either and I am reading horror stories about A100 which kinda worries me !

Probably not because it’s on the schedule for the Fall of 2012. There is a new Kelley degree for the class of 2016 that they talked about during DA weekend this year, but I was not in the auditorium for most of the presentation to hear about it.

A-100 really isn’t that bad though. She gives you about 15 prior midterms and finals to study with that are exactly like the midterm and final you will take. I know everyone has their own way of studying, but I am convinced that the only good way to study for that class is by taking those midterms. Some students on my floor were still doing the readings 3 days before the midterm. If you take the practice tests, the class isn’t that hard because you learn to recognize the concepts that she constantly tries to trip students up on. A lot of people talk about the “trick questions.” There are some tricky questions, but they test the same concepts on every exam (properly classifying interest as an operational cash outflow is a common “trick question”). If you do enough practice tests though you learn to recognize where the tricks are in the problems because they are essentially the same. If you study any other way, you don’t learn where the tricks are.

So it’s really not that bad if you just commit to taking the practice tests.

hkem123, is the Fall 2012 business classes schedule available somewhere?

^^ I couldn’t find it on the website, but I was able to search for Fall 2012 classes through the enrollment shopping cart through OneStart.

OK. Thanks!

Is taking a 5 credit science class a bad idea for a frosh with a lot to lose? Would i be better off taking 2 3credit?

It depends on what class it is and what your purpose is for taking it.

Humans and the Biological World, and im trying to get into kelley so im just taking a science course to meet my gen ed requirement. Basically what is the easiest science course you can take?

You only need 3 credits of natural science. Your calc/finite will take care of the rest of the requirement. I would recommend Psych 101 over that class. It is a time consuming class, but if you study, you should be fine. L-100 sounds very time intensive.

Hey, I’m going to be starting at IU in the fall and am trying to figure out the easiest way of getting into Kelley as I am a non-direct admit while only taking classes at IUB. Here is the current list of required classes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
