Kelley Schedule Feedback

Incoming Kelley Freshman coming in with decent amount of credits Finance major. Sports Management minor.

C106- Business Presentations Byron Craig
K204- Computer in Business (it does not give a professor it just says STAFF?)
A100- Accounting Vivian Whinston
Hon 232- Writing Short Stories Ed Gubar
SPH M328 Issues in intercollegiate Athletics Gary Sailes
M119 Calc 1
T134 KLLC Community Development
I127 Fencing

Are you planning on taking all of these classes 1st semester? That schedule is 20 credits and would be a ton for your 1st semester in college, plus you have to pay extra per credit hour if you exceed 18. I would drop fencing and HON-H 232 and take those in a later semester. You will have room to take them later

@iubaccounting Yes I am currently registered for those first semester but it is 18 credits according to the website

Sorry, I added wrong. I would still drop HON-H 232. Why do you want to take 18 credits 1st semester anyway?

Actually, for Kelley majors, the maximum is 19 cr. The KLLC class takes no time outside of class and is more boring than compass, but you just have to sit through it. With Byron, you just have to talk with him a lot and get to know him and he’ll like you and pretty much give you an A, so it’s less work than with of professors. Don’t take Calc 1 unless you’re minoring in math, take Brief Survey of Calc 1 (M119) instead. All of the gym classes(Fencing) are no time outside of class. I do not know the courseload for K204 or M328 or HON 232, but otherwise, this is a solid schedule.

@doublelegking M119 is a brief survey of calc. You still have to work a little bit outside of class for the KLLC course, and adding that to 16 credits of serious classes and 1 credit of fencing isn’t a good idea for first semester in my opinion.

Again, I’m not sure how much work HON 232 is, but I guess if it’s like my friends’ HON classes, it’s a ton of reading and writing, but the grade distribution is pretty much 100% A’s every class. If he was to drop that and take an A&H Gen ed music class or something, then it would definitely be easier and less work. But one of my friends took K201, c104, a100, a hutton honors law class, finite, kllc class, and 1 or 2 other classes and managed it very well, also while being heavily involved in some clubs.

So C106 with Craig is pretty much an A, A100 is an A if you study the powerpoints for a few hours, Hon 232 will probably be an A if we follow the grade distribution, KLLC Class is an automatic A, and Fencing is an automatic A. The only classes that may not be A’s are .K204, M328, and M119. Also, why is @jimmyrog taking a 300 level class first semester freshman year? And to take M328, don’t you have to take M211 first?

Thank you for all of the advice @doublelegking @iubaccounting. I am taking 18 because I really like to keep busy as much as possible with school, clubs, social stuff. My high school is famous for overwhelming students with work so I guess thats what I like because I am used to it. I am taking the honors 232 class because it fulfills a gen ed and hutton requirement/ it has had 100% As the past few semesters/ the professor got really good reviews/ I like writing short stories and that is what the class is about. In regards to M328, I was assigned to the 8am K204 so I was unable to sign up for M211 so they let me do M328 instead and that also had quite a few As.
