Lack of openness with clothing attire

Actually, the target age range of each:

Abercrombie Kids: 10-13
Hollister: 14-18
Abercrombie & Fitch: 18-24

Go to a forum like TopicStyle or AFLBO and you'll find that most people who A&F targets as well as their big fans are all between about 17 and 24.

Right, except that the vast majority of the people who shop at A&F are NOT 24 years old. While I'm perfectly aware that those are their stated ranges (I don't need some abercrombie board to illuminate me on that fact- it's fairly common knowledge), I don't think that they're completely accurate in reflecting who the ACTUAL consumer is. I suspect that it varies greatly from place to place, but I'm fairly certain that the average 18-24 year old in the LA/OC area isn't as focused on Abercrombie and American Eagle as the average 14-18 year old. Which is really all my first comment was about, anyways.

And I think that if Abercrombie desires to obtain more of the 20-24 year old market, they should design to accommodate a more sophisticated consumer. Because there's very, very little difference in style and quality between the Hollister 14-18 stuff and the A&F 18-24 stuff. Really. It all looks the same. Which isn't to say that it looks BAD, but the same. And I think the whole Hollister-as-a-fake-surf-shop-or-whatever thing is pathetic and doesn't make sense since, again, the merchandise is barely different from what they sell in A&F.

I'm not from OC/LA, I'm from Pennsylvania. Maybe it's just the culture here versus there.

HCo, to me, is basically the different-style-same-stuff concept. Think of the two stores as General Motors divisions. It's like how Pontiac and Chevy sell some of the same cars but the Pontiacs are sportier. With A&F/HCo, it's not only style cues, but also price. I'm not a HCo shopper but I do think A&F's stuff looks higher quality though, so maybe the price increase makes sense?

But yeah, in PA it's really common to find the 20-24 set sporting the A&F. I've even seen some people at least 30 wearing some of the stuff. And I thought only Mike Jeffries could pull that off.

^my pearls are real, thank you very much. And yes, I am in high school. And I've worn sevens since like 7th grade, way before that song came out.

at the risk of seeming like a loser-- i think that knee-length skirts with (dark) tights/leggings and plain uggs looks cool ON THE RIGHT PEOPLE

of course-- that could just be because my school( a religious girls school) requires everyone to be wearing skirts at least to the knee :)

why would you wear real pearls to school? That's like me wearing a Rolex watch to MSU. To me, that's really foolish IMO. I would only wear them on special occasions.

And since you're in high school, may I ask why you are posting on the lack of openness with clothing attire in UNIVERSITIES?? Don't get me wrong, I was just wondering and you can post here all you want. :)

And the Sevens thing, I'm sorry if high schools in East Lansing aren't as "hip" as your high school (and since you mentioned 7th grade, I will add middle school) in Cali. :P
