laptop sound problem

hey im having a sort of computer problem that i was wondering if anybody might know something about. the problem is that the sound on my laptop doesnt seem to work. like ill play a song and it'll say it's playing, but i dont hear anything. but then if i plug in speakers, the sound's fine. if i plug in headphones, i can hear it fine. but without this external stuff i cant hear it! anybody have any ideas about what's going on? thanks

um, maybe your laptop doesnt have built in speakers? maybe? maybe not?

lol... idk...

I've wanted to know what "idk" means for 6 months. what is it?

I don't know.

google is your friend

If you're running Windows, go to Control Panel. Click on the "speaker" icon: "Sounds and Audio Devices". Be sure to set your device volume to "high" and be sure that the "mute" box is not checked. Do check the the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" box.

Reboot and see if this fixes your problem.

Do you even have the drivers installed correctly or installed at all? That could be a problem too. Run a Windows Update..on hardware
