I am going to be living in a large split double in Dellplain next year. Could anyone possibly tell me what the room is like? (What it looks like, what it comes furnished with, etc.)
Thanks!

I don’t have a link, but there is a virtual tour of a split double on line. I think they have an extra long? twin bed, a dresser and a closet. I believe the Housing pages with give you more information- as well as the room dimensions.

How’d you already find out? Are you a first year?

I’m a transfer and am being pulled in by a current student. They already got their housing.

Large split in DP comes with a bed, dresser, desk and closet. The room is a pretty decent size, there’s not many complaints on that front. Shelving unit above the desk. The building is old so there’s no AC and everything is a little run down. be prepared for a lot of fire alarms.

Thanks for the info. Would you happen to know if there’s a place I could hang a full sized mirror? Also do you know if the bottom of the closet is flat so I can put storage boxes in there?

Large splits are really nice. My friend lived in one his freshman year, and… well, you’re really lucky! It’s a little difficult to hang things in DellPlain unless you have some really good adhesive (for the cinder block) or have some way to hang it in your closet of sorts.

The bottom of the closet is flat, so you’ll be able to stow a few things there. There’s also under-bed space and a ton of desk space for you to use. You may want to consider bringing a desk lamp since it does tend to be a bit dark in the room. Lighting’s not all too great.

Like eastcoastlove said, there’s no AC, but to be frank, you don’t really need it. It is Syracuse, after all. Fire alarms… not too many. You’ll start getting frustrated at the number of people who can’t make popcorn or microwave cookies though. :-)

You’ll have fun in DellPlain.

Full size mirror is best in between the two split rooms on the adjoining wall…so you guys can share it…split double does reduce available wall space but is the perfect combo of privacy and community…if you know what I mean…
