Basically I screwed one class up and my overall GPA is going to dip slightly below the 3.5 overall UCSD requires of me and I will be rescinded.

My only chance is taking a UC Berkeley extension class and finishing it with an A before the July 15 deadline to submit transcripts to UCSD. Is it possible to complete a class and send transcripts in time before that deadline? Also, do any other UC's or other schools have extension classes I could take? Money and time isn't really a problem for me right now, I'm willing to fly or drive anywhere if I can make sure I won't be rescinded.

You need an overall 3.0 gpa by the end of spring semester. Not 3.5

How far below 3.0? Try contacting UCSD and say you had medical problems during finals week or something like that.

^Not a good idea if they ask for some form of verification/proof.

I have a feeling OP would take that chance over a rescission.

I would be at a 2.98 but I don’t want to take that chance of being rescinded. I just need to know if it would be possible to finish a class at the one of the UC extensions within the next 8 weeks

2.98 should be close enough to a 3.0 that the UC will let it slide if you say you had a medical problem. Regarding a UC extension class, I don’t think that will work because on the admissions agreement it says you will need to maintain a 3.0 in the courses you are enrolled in for spring, regardless of what you get in other classes.

But the thing is, wouldn’t it count as the spring semester? Because on the UC agreement it says I only have to keep a 2.0 for the spring semester, which I have. The 3.0 requirement is for the overall GPA. The extension class would factor into my overall GPA. I just want to know if I can finish the extension class in time.

Ah I see, in that case you’ll have to contact UCSD and see if they factor extension classes into your overall GPA.

If you lie to admissions and they find out, you could be blacklisted from ever gaining admission to a UC again. In that scenario, not only do you get “rescinded”, but you aren’t even allowed to re-apply. Getting rescinded certainly isn’t the worth case scenario when the possibility of getting blacklisted exists. But by all means if it’s worth it in any scenario, I guess go for it. If there’s even the slightest possibility that you’ll re-apply or attend graduate school at a UC, then it is incredibly stupid.

Sure, lying to the UC admissions could possibly have you blacklisted from UCs, but failing to maintain a 3.0 will definitely get you rescinded. It’s a risk assessment, would you lie to the UCs in order to save your admission?

I don’t even know at this point. I’m hoping that they will accept my extension course this semester. I just need someone to verify that it will count.

If you’re talking about the self-paced online courses at UCB extension, just letting you know:

“You must allocate a minimum of one month per semester unit to complete a course; this time frame allows for instructor-led interaction and feedback between assignments. For courses of 3 and 4 semester units, you must remain in the course for a minimum of three months.”

I know but people have been posting that they have completed classes within 6 weeks. I have until July 15 to submit my final transcript. That’s a good 2 months.

I finished the work in 6 weeks, but I was enrolled in the class for longer than that – I started late. You need to email the instructor and find out what the minimums are for class enrollment time.
