At the end of October, I applied to the University of Michigan with a 32 composite ACT. I'm quite confident that this is enough to get me in, so that's no worry. However, I did take the ACT in October and I got my scores back about a week ago and saw that I got a 35 and promptly sent the report to UMich. Is there any way that I could have them use this score in place of my 32? It did say that on the website that the deadlines were November 1 for ACT/SAT scores, but I feel like that's just so the application is complete. Also, if they cannot use my 35 for early admission and I do get accepted, could I apply again RD so I could either get an offer for the Honors College and get looked at for merit based aid? Any insight into this matter would be great. Thanks.

If ED has a score deadline of Nov. 1, then they’re not going to consider your Nov. 9 score for purposes of admissions.

But if neither the honors college nor merit aid has a Nov. 1 deadline, I’d guess the higher score would be considered for both of those. But, hate to say it, the only way to be sure is to contact the admissions office and ask. And you may want to do that now, before you get a decision. If they say they won’t consider the higher score, then you might want to change your application status to RD so the higher scores can be considered. (And, yeah, that’s the only way to do that - you’d have to switch from ED to RD.) But call and ask - you might be just fine!

Congratulations on the score, by the way!!!

UMich has no ED but EA. Do send it the late score. They may consider it if it arrived before their decision. If they do not consider the late score and you are not accepted in EA, then they will consider the new score in the RD automatically. You do not need to apply again as most, if not all, applicants not accepted in EA will be deferred to RD rolling admission.
