LEAD Summer Business Institute

last year the wharton packet was posted on their (wharton’s) web site in early june.

Horseeagle,
LEAD Engineering at University of Michigan is a brand new program this year; I would direct any of your questions to the staff in Philadelphia; as I don’t think anyone on this site would have specifics about the inagural year of this program.

so are you supposed to pay when you get the packet then?

supersignr
if u want to request financial aid, you should call them and figure out what you should do from there. from my understanding, the payments are due on may 29…so u should pay before you get the packet.

ok thank you

Hey,

I’m a LEAD 2007 alum just trying to see what’s going on these days on CC…
Been a while…

Any U of I family out there?

hi,
Would you choose LEAD over Ross Math? What looks better for college?

If your main concern is college admission, you shouldn’t go to Ross.

tracksoccer,

Please feel free to e-mail me directly with your concerns about the LEAD program as opposed to other summer programs offered on campus; I work at the Ross School of Business directly alongside the admissions staff, and I can answer your questions/ or direct them to the qualified persons able to help you.

Sometimes erroneous information can be communicated through these message postings, and I want to be sure you are getting your questions answered by qualified Ross School of Business staff members.
Please feel free to email me at lkinc@umich.edu.

Anyone going to UVA June 7th?

oh snap! i already sent in all my info last week and i JUST now realized that i forgot to finish a sentence to a question on the student questionaire! ughh i meant to go back to it…but i forgot! oh well…:(

The Lead 2010 application came out. Anyone else applying for 2010? I would like to know the differences between each school’s program

i want to apply to this year’s LEAD but I’m sad that Georgetown is not there but I don’t even see where you rank the schools
@namxuras if you scroll down the application it gives details about each school

As a parent of a LEAD student from last year, I can say it was an incredible experience for my son. My DS returned a more confident student ready for college. He worked hard but the projects were interesting and the mba mentors inspiring. My DS said that the staff really demonstrated that they cared for the success of the students in the program.

As my DS is going through the college application process and college recruiting, we are very thankful for his participation in LEAD. Colleges have waived application fees and he has received wonderful college recruitment. When admissions rep find out he did LEAD, you can see that they are more interested in him. In addition LEAD has been very helpful in the application process for merit scholarships. In fact, tonite we were discussing that LEAD and the schools that participate in LEAD have been much more helpful in the application process than his own high school. So if you have the chance to apply to LEAD, do so , you will not regret it.

Good Luck!!

I definitely want to apply to the LEAD Business Institute. I am very apprehensive about the whole situation. I’ve never gone to one of these summer programs, so this will be a very interesting experience. I think that (1) this will be a great learning experience for me and (2) it will most likely give me an advantage in college admissions.

Does anyone have any tips for filling out the application? Any alumnus from the program felt that it was more than worth it to go through the program?

Thanks!

@Namxuras ~ I am filling out an application. I really hope I get into the program. This will be my first summer program other taking a couple of classes at the local college (Intro to Business and Spanish 31).

My son did LEAD in 2008 and I can tell you that it is a marvellous program. It teaches both hard and soft business skills and is a wonderful introduction to college life. Go ahead–apply. You won’t regret it!

Does anyone know the dates for LEAD 2010?? I would e-mail the people at LEAD National but I have already e-mailed them twice- within minutes of each other :(. I want to check no preference on the questionaire, but I do not know the dates of the june-july SBIs and if they are during when I have regents exams, I will be screwed.

Sandra, look at the dates for this past year. Based on previous years, the dates usually mimic each other with some programs starting right away and others a bit later in summer. See when the regents exams are and try to pick a school as far away from that date.

okay thanks! I remember in past years though that applicants used to rank their top five schools… we’re not doing that this year are we??
