LEDA 2016

I got a rejection email.

I wish I could say that everything goes right in the end and that I learned a lot from this process but I’m not sure that I can.

Congratulations to those who got accepted. Have fun at Princeton!

@K.Bow123 congrats! how long ago was your interview?

My interview was on March 15th

@shanabanana1 I’ve been following this thread from the beginning. My son applied and hasn’t heard anything. I want to say thanks for all the information you’ve provided here. Also, do not think this decision has anything to do with you, personally. You’re obviously an amazing person with a bright future, LEDA or no LEDA. Hang in there and move on with your head high. I have worried from the beginning that your families income might be a big strike against you. All things being equal, I bet there are a lot of other applicants with much lower incomes. It probably all boils down to that - nothing to do with how qualified you are personally or academically. Take care.

@imrenee1 Thank you for your kind words.

if you got rejected and you dont mind, may you post what they put in the email sent to you

Thank you for applying to the LEDA Scholars Program. I regret to inform you that we will not be able to offer you admission to the LEDA Scholars Program. Please know that this decision is not a reflection of your abilities or potential, but the extremely competitive nature of this year’s applicant pool. You should feel proud of making it this far in the process. We acknowledge that our application requires a significant level of commitment and so we commend you for having taken the time to complete it. Thank you very much for your cooperation and fortitude throughout the past few months. Please accept my best wishes for your continued academic success.

I got a rejection email as well. Huge congratulations to everyone who got accepted!! You all deserved it and I hope you guys have the best summer ever! And to those who got rejected, we’re all still incredible for making it past part I. So many extraordinary people applied this year, and other opportunities will arise in the future!

Also, if anyone made it to the interview phase in the Hamilton Scholars program or did the Questbridge college prep scholarship, I hope to see accepted letters for the both of us! (:

@shanabanana1 Good luck to you. You were really helpful to everyone on here, including people who didn’t comment but just watched from the shadows (like me) lol

I literally don’t know what’s going on. I haven’t received anything since my interview. Congrats to those that made it!

@K.Bow123 Thanks! I hope that you enjoy the program!

@shanabanana1 Just followed you on Twitter lol

@K.Bowl123 Followed back :slight_smile:

@shanabanana1 I completely agree! You’ve helped alot on this forum and kept it very much alive. I hope amazing things come your way. Disregard any negative comments directed towards you

@da2949 I wish the same for you!

@imrenee1 I acknowledge that the LEDA process is strenuous and tough. I also realize that you may feel upset as a parent. I do recommend applying to programs like Summer Scholars of Wash. U. or Summer College for High School Students at the University of Mississippi, but I’d like to say the in the defense of the LEDA program, not everything is based on income. Although that may be a factor as those with lower incomes are often put at a disadvantage in terms of education, we are not without merit. Speaking on my own behalf, I hold championship trophies for debate, outstanding legislator awards in Youth Legislature, a high ACT, straight A’s, a rank at the top of my class, a prestigious position on my schools yearbook staff, and meritorious accomplishments across the board. I’d also say that compared to myself, every other LEDA scholar that I have met is humble and noble, and has enough accomplishments under their belts to make my achievements look timid and bland in comparison. On top of that, these are kids of immigrants, and some are immigrants themselves, who have had to fight tooth and nail through stress and hardship. I have a close friend of the last cohort who has gone through unimaginable tragedy as well as economic suffering, and has came out with great success and is going to Stanford. I understand that you are upset, and your claim has some footing, but please don’t ever deny the personal and academic achievements of these scholars, as well as myself and those cohorts before me, who have all endured their fair share of stress and hardship and who have come out with a prize, because that is simply distasteful, immature, and inconsiderate of others who have not only gained this opportunity, but those who were declined it.

Though really. I’m sorry if I annoyed many of the people on this forum with my excessive posts. I was really excited about the program and wanted to get to know everyone and keep the forum active.

I like the excessive posts because they keep me updated
