Letter from Colgate

My son received his acceptance as an Alumni Memorial Scholar on Friday. He applied RD was shocked that he was accepted so early. He is totally stoked. When I returned home that night, he was watching the Colgate vs. RPI hockey game on the TV.

I was also accepted as an Alumni Memorial Scholar. Very excited, and since receiving the acceptance letter Colgate has been kind enough to send me an interesting book written by a current professor, as well as a letter from an actual alumni encouraging me to attend.

Well, for those of us still waiting, did anyone see this on the Website…Scares the crap outta me, reads like a rejection I got from some school…Especially the last sentence

We appreciate the contact we have had with you through your college search. We understand that you are eager to learn the outcome of your application. The application review process for first-year admission is now complete. We plan to communicate our admission decisions on or about March 24. Please note we do not give out decisions over the phone. We thank you again for your interest in Colgate and give you our best wishes for your college career.

Son too got a personalized note both on his letter of acceptance and again when he wrote a note to decline enrollment. That really stood out to me about Colgate and I liked they seemed to take a personal interest in the kid. As for the general letter to everyone. I think it is very smart marketing actually… just when kids are craving news from colleges (who are very typically mute this time of year), they get in the head just before you, the students, are bombarded with attempts to be woed by those who have accepted you.

Colgate is a great school, truly beautiful campus (although man there are a lot of stairs) and I wish all those still waiting the best of luck and a hearty congratulations to those chosen for such a great scholarship!

me too me too
i got in as an AMS umm got my acceptance and FA letters on Feb 22
i got the book too… the one about the nuclear bomb ( haven’t read it yet) and a letter from a current student

i think they sent it to everyone.

Mine got one, but a little bit different, as I am an international student.

the evidence I held it was to everyone is that I got it in Jan. 2010, when they could never accept me

Hi I’m an international as well apparently we get emailed our decision… does that mean we will get emailed on the 24th??

They don’t email decisions to anyone, even internationals. They will send it by FedEx and it will be mailed today.

Sent out to everyone today? Like so we should be receiving them tomorrow or thursday?

how do you know it was mailed today? online it says on or about the 24th, but are you sure they were mailed today?

Does this mean we get them tomorrow?

The website says they plan on communicating their decision on or about the 24th, so it makes sense that they would send them out. Ahhhh crossing fingers!!!

by the way, again. they are going Fed Ex…but we don’t know if it is overnight, one day, two day or even 3 day Fed Ex.

no e-mails for internationals? are u guys sure?

They email all international students

I called them to make sure and they definitely email decisions to International students

not sure when but hopefully on the 24th

I am so glad to hear that they email! Thank you for sharing this, adi2010! :)

yup, thanks

24th… today then

just talked to admissions office, they are sending out decision letters all this afternoon. Some will be sent by regular US Mail, others, the more far away places will go out by Fed Ex.

Financial aid will be included in the letters.

John- this includes international applicants?
