Letter of Appeal?

I got accepted to a Pitt branch campus but am really only interesting in attending main campus. Does Pitt accept a letter of appeal and if so does it have that much of a chance of changing anything?

Do you have new, improved information, first quarter senior grades, retake of SAT or ACT?

If so you can try.

Even if you start out at regional campus you might be able to transfer to main campus later. Get information about requirements.

The regional campus might have some things you haven’t considered, smaller class sizes, lower cost, maybe eligibility for a merit scholarship. You might even be able to commute, saving money.

Hello @steelers997,

You can send an email to oafa@pitt.edu and request that we reconsider your application. I do want to give you two tips before you take that step:

  1. It is unlikely that reconsideration will produce a different result unless you have significant new information to add to your application (exe: a new improved SAT/ACT score).
  2. That said, I would strongly encourage you to call our office and ask to speak with an admissions counselor. They can look at your file and give you some feedback on what you may be able to do in order for your request to be successful.

As mommdc mentioned, you do have the option to start at a branch campus and transfer to the Pittsburgh campus later on. I would encourage you to also look into that as an option. Gather some information about the campus to which you have been admitted. The admissions committee tries its best to match you with a campus that offers programs that fit the areas of interest you indicated on your application.

Best,
A Pitt Admissions Staffer
